Police say man had 28 weapons

Authorities aren't releasing details about the circumstances of Waller's arrest Friday or why he allegedly owned so many weapons.

Obviously you need a reason to collect things. WHY O WHY did my grandmother own so many Hummels?

What made the guns illegal to possess?
Where to start. If any single one of them was not registered, or the registration had expired.
In fact if all his firearms complied with the law, and his bb gun was not registered it would be grounds for the entire arrest.

He had "assault" weapons generaly not legal in NJ (grandfathering?) anymore, and who knows maybe a standard capacity magainze?

We really do not know what was illegal, just that a man with 28 weapons was arrested. It could be because of a magazine too large under NJ law for all we know, or because he didn't know you have to register BB guns and didn't have that registered, even if complying with everything else.
His firearm license could have expired and he failed to renew.
It is a communist state, there is dozens of possible reasons.
A sad part is we want to hear a reason that is acceptable in other states, even if that reason is also equaly unconstitutional, because that will make sense? :(

Nope. As I said there is no requirement for a firearm to be registered to be legal. Also once registered there is no "expiration".

Again no. You need a permit or FID to purchase, not to own. And again contrary to popular belief registration is NOT required in NJ.

Possible, but the two they mentioned as being "assault firearms" are specifically noted as being legal in NJ, the MAK-90 and SKS. I imagine if there were "worse" guns there they would have mentioned them. As for grandfathering, you had until 1992 to register your "assault firearms" or render them deactivated. There IS a requirement for "assault firearms" to be registered or you must possess an assault firearm license, that no one ever gets.

and who knows maybe a standard capacity magainze?

This is the most likely scenario. Any "large capacity ammunition feeding device", meaning a mag over 15 rounds, is considered a crime of the 3rd degree and you can get up to 5 years per mag.

His firearm license could have expired and he failed to renew.

Nope, NJ FID card is valid for life once issued. If you move you must change your address before you can buy another rifle or shotgun, but the card remains valid for the purposes of transportation.

It is a communist state, there is dozens of reasons, does it really have to be one that exists elsewhere to understand?

Ain't that the truth! :banghead:

Hard to keep up with too many communist state gun laws, they change so often.
After devoting time to understanding CA laws, most MA laws and, and even some Chicago laws, NJ has not quite made the list.
In MA and IL for example you need the FID/FOID just to legaly own and transport, not just purchase.
Trying to learn more about more free state gun laws. You can memorize the laws of 10 relatively free states in the same time as 1 of the communist regimes. :neener:

You can learn all of AZ gun laws in 20 minutes for example, and even cross reference the statutes.

bottom line is its illegal in nj so he was wrong no matter what is legal other places

Oh really? Wrong?

There is a world of difference between illegal and wrong, and it doesn't take all that much pondering to realize it.

I'd be glad to. Trust me if I wasn't from NJ I wouldn't have as an in depth knowledge of their laws as i do. ;)

Thanks, Dbl0Kevin, for your info. Much more insightful as to the strange way it comes across with such a bare-bones article.

Another case for a few, well-thought-out Federal gun laws rather than 6 million fed., state, county, city and church laws!

Hmm... lessee here... how about..

1. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Yup. That should do it. :)

I'd like to see some people email pics to the NJSP pictures of real arsenals and collections, sticking their tongues out to the cameras... Just once! :)

Jesse, doesn't a majority vote suddenly make it moral to punish someone for an act that is perfectly moral?

He's going to go to jail for what is perfectly legal for me in Florida.

Same here. That is sad. Typically with a crime, there is a victim. In this case, the "criminal" is the only victim.

He broke the law. Therefore, he is a criminal. Do the crime, do the time. Don't like it? Raise your voice really loud, and maybe the politicians will accommodate your views. Because they're reasonable men who want to do the right thing. So if your idea is reasonable, they'll listen.

It scares the bejeezus out of me when I see how many people seem to think so :uhoh:.

I don't think anybody is taught what morals or liberty really are anymore.

JesseL, apparently, some people think it's moral to help put someone in prison for peacefully carrying a firearm without a permit, or for having a firearm with a barrel length that is not approved by the majority. Can you imagine that?

I don't need to imagine it because I know it's true, but I can't for the life of me imagine what mental process they use to rationalize it. My doublethink skills are profoundly under developed.
