What 1911's do you own?

1. Colt Series 70 Mark IV, .45acp - My first handgun. Carried it in Korea and occasionally as pay officer in the States. Now my bullseye wadcutter gun with a dot sight.

2. Springfield Armory M1911, .45acp - A stock blued gun with Bomar sights added as an NRA ball gun.

3. Colt M1911 by Giles, .38 Special - Converted to .38 Special by Giles. Bought it from a friend who wrecked the barrel with a squib load. Had the barrel replaced with a spare the friend had. Had the Giles iron sights removed and a rail installed for a dot sight. Now my NRA bullseye centerfire gun. The most accurate centerfire auto I own. I've won my class in matches that I never would have if I'd had to use the .45 in the centerfire match.

4. Norinco M1911, .45acp - Bought from a friend with the original $300 Bush tax refund. Needed a little work to make it 100%. Kept as an inexpensive CCW gun.

Right now I only own a Kimber, Norinco and a Home Brew.

I had to give one of my Home Brews to my youngest and My Auto Ord to my oldest.

It sucks being down to three 1911's, time to build another.

Here's my Kimber

I've got 15 Colts various, one Norinco, one Kimber, one Ithaca, one RIA, and a Western Arms frame that I've slated to carry an Advantage (?) .22 conversion.

I like 1911's a little..

Colt's one Combat Commander. Rest full size and currently none with FPS.
Springfield Mil-Spec (my CCW)
Wilson Combat (it is just passing thru)

Tried more modern designs, always came back to a 1911.

As to the other designs "been there, done that, no reason to go back"

Kimber Ultra Carry Compact, Springfield Loaded Parkerized Fullsize, Charles Daly Fullsize, Taurus PT1911 fullsize, Para LTC Commander size.

NONE!
I mean, seriously now. The design's very nearly a hundred years old. A freaking century! Sure, people've tried modernizing the thing with polymers, double actions, different calibers than that slow-moving cannonball, double-stack magazines and whatnot..but at the base it's still an antique clunker. There's no comparing it to, say, striker-fired polymer-framed Glock perfection - and those Australian pistols are aesthetically flawless besides.

Actually I'd love nothing better than to get my hands on some nice 1911A1 configured as close to mil-spec as I could get - that'd be perfect. Can someone lend me a few grand...so I can get that..and an STI longslide thing? Usually I'm not one for fancied-up 1911s but just look at this, it's damn beautiful!

Take out the forward serrations and huge Trojan logo, and it'd be perfect.

First of all, aesthetically flawless?? Wow. Second of all, what's the point of this post? Are you just trying to start a fight??
Also, there's Austrian, not Australian. Time for a geography lesson.

i own one, and there will be more in the future. i have a SA MC Operator, and i couldn't be happier. i have 2650 trouble free rds through it, but what did i expect it is a SA they are awesome and i highly recomend them. it is plenty accurate too. the only thing that i have done to mine is that i installed a wilson combat mag well which was quick and easy and really helps out with the reloads, i love the pistol.

Kimbers....3", 4", 5" custom shop pistols.

Eventually I'd also like to get a Les Baer, Colt 70 & Springfield operator.
