What 5 Guns only forever?

I like these kind of threads. I won't indulge my personal arsenal here, just generalization.
1. A manually operated .22, because autos can be fussy at times and can't shoot Shorts or CB caps. And if it gets real bad, I can use that .22 reloader tool with black powder.
2. 12/20 gauge shotgun, again, no autos, for the same reason.
3. NEF 45/70. Plenty of power for anything on 2 or 4 legs, and easy to reload.
4. .357, .45LC or .44 Mag revolver, 4" barrel, no magazine issues and as above, can run with BP and homemade primers if need be (and I'm by nature a wonder 9/plastic fantastic guy).
5. A good quality .177 or .22 airgun, spring piston, either pistol or rifle. Quieter than anything else and one can pack 3-5000 rounds in a coffee can.
That would be all I'd really need should it come to it.

1 12 guage shotgun, Would like to say my Browning Superposed but would have to settle for a "lowly" Remmington 870 if I only get 1
2 1911 in .45
3 Rem 700 in 30-06, 7mm Rem mag would also work but 30-06 is easier to find ammo for in a pinch
4 Colt Python .357
5 tough choice for the last one, one of my 9mms partial to the 1911 Springfield, but no, AR15 of some type well close but no here to, I will make the last one a when the world has gone to bleep
a flintlock black powder musket I guess, black powder can be made, no primers necessary, and if worst come to worst you could shoot rocks:)

hmmm ok changed my mind and will take the AR:) (but it's close on the last one)

If I want to stretch "gun" a self propelled 155mm would be nice:)just in case there is anything that can't be handled with #1 or #3

Former 13B here, while I heartily approve of that last, track maintenance is a bugbear to handle on your own, as well as handling projos and powder bags. Stick with fixed ammo like a 75mm, easier to deal with.

An old friend called me last night, asked me what 5 Guns I would have if I could only have 5. A lot of it comes to caliber, I can’t figure out what to give up for a .22 but my choice is final. As market forces have dictated, I consider a .223 the 21st century .22. Most of these I own. This has likely been asked before, but like our personalities flow, market forces are subject to change.

I also am curious what people have, like and or hunt.

1. .357 Ruger Gp100 with a six inch barrel.
2. Sig p229 .40 caliber
3. Colt AR 15 carbine
4. Remington 870 wingmaster 12 gauge
5.Bolt action chambered in .300 weatherby

What about you?
First of all, if a buddy of mine called and asked me that, the first thing I'd say is, "Why? What happened?"

Still, I'll play. If I could only have 5 firearms:
1. Remington 870 in 12 gauge;
2. Glock 19;
3. AR-15;
4. a bolt-action .22; and
5. a snubnose .357 revolver.

And for honorable mentions, in the event that I couldn't get one of the above:
6. a 1911 in .45;
7. a Mossberg 500 or 590 in 12 ga; and
8. a pellet gun.

ETA: I really need a minimum of 10 here.

In no special order:
Win71..........348 cal
Win94 (pre-64) 30-30
Sav 99F (pre-million) 250-3000
Browning ..... 257 Roberts
Remington bolt action..22 cal.

1. Mossberg 590A1 12 ga
2. Ruger 10/22
3. Glock 19
4. Colt 6920 AR15
5. Bolt action .308

Mine would be gp100 357, my sa459 12 ga, Savage model 10 in 260 rem, Savage model 93r in 17 hmr, and Beretta neo with red dot.

I'll play.

1) Primary Weapon Systems MK216
2) Ruger Gunsite Scout
3) S&W 629 4"
4) S&W M&P 9 M2.0 Compact
6) Mossberg 500 Thunder Ranch

I have been contemplating simplifying lately so I have been thinking about this a bit. This assumes uses similar to what I do now.

Gp100 or P89. That would be a tough choice, the .357 is more practical/versatile, but I like carrying and shooting the 9mm better.

Ar15 scoped frankenrifle. Long range targets, varmints, predators, medium game if needed. Just really enjoy shooting and reloading for this thing.

Mossberg 500. No explanation needed, multiple barrels.

.22 rifle. Plinking, small game. I would have trouble deciding between lever, bolt, or semi auto, but a Marlin 39a probably wins here for me.

.22 buckmark. This one is just for pure fun. I would say bolt action .308 or .270 or somehing, but I dont hunt anything larger than predators. If I did, the appropriate hunting rifle would replace the buckmark.

First, my 9mm Largo Super Star pistol, T53 mosin nagant carbine, 12 gauge Steven pump shot gun, Marlin 22.lr semi auto rifle, and if I could afford it, Luger P08, cause, I always wanted one.

1) 12 gauge pump
2) muzzleloader 50 cal
3) lever action to share ammo with:
4) single action revolver 7.5”
5) single action revolver 4.75”

Live with only five guns? No way. I'm probably going to be BURIED with more than that!

I often shoot more than 5 guns in a week. Might shoot five .22LR rifles/handguns in one evening's indoor shooting. Usually take 2-4 centerfires to the outdoor rifle range. Also, take a couple of shotguns and a handgun when bird hunting in the North Maine Woods. Plus, ya gotta have at least five extras loaded and ready around the house, just for protection, don't ya? :)

Well only if I could only have 5guns they would have particular niches I suppose :
1)hunting pistol
2)light cal rifle/2legged critters
3)small critters that fly,climb,scurry,and hop
4)ccw/defensive pistol
5)general purpose,larger game rifle

out of the guns I own
1)6" gp100
2) cz 527 carbine (Leupold 2-7 compact,qr rings)
3)Benelli supernova 12guage(28")
4)cz p01(g10 grips,cgw sights)
5)Tikka t3x 7mm-08 (Leupold 2.5-8 vx3i)

Dreamlist if only 5 and not having NYS restrictions
1)10mm, 1911,sig or cz clone.havent decided on which one yet, probably would have a reflex sight on it like a rmr
2)16" mid length AR,free float handguard, buis,1-6 scope with illumination on QR mount
3) Mossberg 500 w/tactical barrel and field barrel
4)same as above list
5)cz 550 FS, 30-06,Warne QR rings, Leupold vx3i 2.5-8 with custom dial,alumina covers

Sorry lots of edits**

1.) Walther P99
2.)Controlled feed action bolt gun 30-06 with 4x12 scope. Dangerous and big game.
3.) SPR ar15 with 1x4 scope and without all the other junk. Varmints of all sizes
4.) Savage mk11 22 bolt gun
Ruger Std 22 pistol. Without the magazine disconnect and chamber loaded flags. KISS

my five handguns in no particular order:
1. bond arms derringer with multiple barrels in 410/45lc, 45acp, 45lc, 357/38, 9mm, 380acp, 22lr
2. taurus model 85, steel snubbie with pachmayr grips, was my first ccw from mid 1980s.
3. ruger 5.5” “single eight” with 8-shot 22wmr replacement cylinder by story and oem 6-shot 22lr cylinder.
4. ruger sr22 with galloway steel guide rod.
5. russian makarov style ij70 380acp with fab replacement grips.
“but wait, there’s more...”

1. 12 gauge pump
2. 22 pump
3. commander 1911
4. ar 15
5. Sig p226
and a glock 26 hid so you think I only got 5 guns but got to keep the baby glock!

Hmm, list might change if conversion kits are disallowed but my needs would be covered by.

1. .45 ACP 1911, preferably a double stack
2. 5.56 AR (conversons to .22 and .300 BLK preferable)
3. .300 win mag bolt rifle, like my Ruger Hawkeye so Ill go with that.
4. 12 gauge pump, not married to brand.
5. Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 mag or maybe .454

I have thought about this type of thing over the years, mostly in terms of what I would pack in a trailer on an extended road trip.
- a 1911 with a .22 conversion (Nelson or Marvel)
- a 12 gauge pump shotgun, probably an Ithaca 37
- a 16 gauge flintlock fowler
- a .44 magnum revolver
- an AR 15 (or an M1 Garand) Tough choice.
All subject to change if the weather does.
Pete
