I am looking for a 9mm Autoloader with a VERY small grip, I have no preference in regards to make and model, as long as it’s a good quality gun.
She shut a 9mm Beretta 92, where she used the tip of Her finger on the trigger, She has a very small hand, any suggestions ???

Take her to a range that has rentals and let her shoot a bunch. Here are a few you might want to try.

Sig P239
Kahr cant remember all models but go with the mid size
S&W 908

Perhaps one of the very nice Kahr 9mm compacts. I have a Kahr P9, which is a compact (7 rd mag) and lightweight polymer frame DAO auto. It would be a good size for purse, coat pocket, or IWB holster. The DAO pull is smooth. Mine is a good shooter at all reasonable self-defense ranges.

I would recommend the Walther P99 A/S (not the new QA trigger), or the S&W clone of the same gun - the SW99 ( NOT the SW990L; different trigger too).

You can change out the back straps - 3 different ones for different size hands. I have fairly small hands - I like this gun a lot, and love the SA pull.

Take her to rental ranges, contact your friends with different guns, take her to gun stores and gun shows. Let her handle as many as possible, shooting where allowed. Let HER pick. She isn't dumb, she picked you, didn't she?

But Kahr K9 and Sig-Sauer P239 are good places to start.

Well thanks to You all,
i have been digging into the Kahr (don't know these guns')

We happen to have a gunshow in town later this month, so i will have a look out for the kahr.

Thanks

Like the P-99, the HK P2000 has interchangeable backstraps as well. The compact version, the P2000SK, has the same feature.

1. Read Pax's thread. Then read it again.

2. If you take away nothing else from this discussion, let it be this: LET HER CHOOSE.

3. If you're thinking about a CCW gun, your wife's petite hands might be an advantage. Tiny pocket pistols are often real pains to shoot it you have normal-sized hands. I imagine that Seecamps, Rohrbaughs, Kel-Tecs, et. al., would be a lot more fun to shoot if one's hands were smaller.

So many choices and ideas
Take her and she will know when she gets it in her hand. At least thats been the way it worked for me

Letting her pick is great advice. Is this for her to carry or to use around the house for self defense? I'd add my vote for the Walther P99 Compact...I just ordered one for my wife. You might also get her to try one of the sub-compact Glocks like the G26.

I didn't realize how different my wife's hands were from mine until I let her run through all my different pistols. The ones I thought would be good for her weren't. Hopefully you have a shop nearby where she can hold a bunch of different guns and a range that rents various models for her to try shooting.

BTW, you can still get a Walther P99C from CDNN for $430 + S/H. Pretty sweet deal!

Good luck!

I'm assuming you want a 9mm, because it's a decent caliber for self defense, and it holds a lot of rounds. Can your wife pull back the slide on a semi-auto? If not, then you might want to consider a revolver. My wife is petite, and has small hands. Her house gun is a .357 magnum Ruger Speed Six with stock grips, loaded with .38special +P 125 gr. JHP. I tried what I consider a better load but she couldn't control it. Double action trigger pull has been lightened to about eight pounds. Never a light hit on the cartridge primer either. The reach to the trigger is a smidgeon shorter than a S & W Model
10. We tried a Ruger P-95. She liked the Speed Six much better. I've "heard" that a Glock 19 is liked by some women, so you might want her to see how it's grip fits her hand. Good luck.

My wife currently shoots a Ruger P95....but she REALLY wants a S&W 3913LS. I believe that's the model. It's a single stack 9mm. I think it's ugly, but if she likes it.................;)

What gun to get her...hmmm, maybe the one that SHE decides fitsher best and feels best in her hands. Only she can answer that question.

I agree with the Kahr suggestion. Great quality, small little grip. You mentioned her hands were small, but didn't say they weren't strong. If she has some hand strength, she might want to sample the Kel-tec as well. That trigger pull is a little stiffer than the Kahr, but I always viewed that as a nice feature, especially for a defense situation. Also, I agree with Coronach - those small hands might be a real blessing on some of the tiniest autos like a seacamp (price and availability are getting better on these). Still, if you're sold on the 9mm, you definitely won't go wrong by letting her test the Kahr and the Kel-tec.

9 for the wife

I posted a thread before xmas on this same topic. I bought my wife a PT111 in stainless. She really likes it. If it's for a surprise like a birtday or something. You could strike a deal with the gunshop and see if they will allow you to purchase the one you think she will like, then visit the gunstore again after the gift is given, but before the gun is fired. Then let her look at all that is available and trade the unfired gifted gun back in for one of her choosing. This way you have a gift to give instead of a gift certificate, and if she likes it your done. If not, you get to go back to the gunstore.

Pretty easy decision if the gunshop manager allows it. Mine did, but my wife liked her gun so much we have not been back to the gunshop.

My wife shoots a S&W 6906 9mm, she loves it. I kinda like shooting it too, very smooth.

Ditto the Taurus PT-111 Pro in stainless for right at $300. I got my new one for Christmas from my son, and everyone in my family, including my very small-handed wife, loves it.

Took my wife gun shopping. Had the clerk lay out Kahrs, bersas, keltecs, and the Taurus pt111. She fondled all of them. Settled on the Pt111. We went to the range today, Went thru 100rnds of 9mm wwb, mostly her shooting. She is like Annie Oakley with that thing. The trigger is very nice, DAO, same pull each time. Oh yeah, I like it too. By the way, it has been perfect in terms of reliability.
So, I guess I would have to say +1 on the mil pro 111 ;)

Has she had the chance to hold one of the XD's in sub-compact?

Best bet is to let your wife handle several, demo a few and pick one. Kinda like picking a diamond!!! Only cheaper!
