What are some good "Sleeper" Semiautos?

FEG is a big Hungarian company that makes a lot of guns, and a lot of components that go into brands you recognize. They have a rep for good quality with maybe some rough edges that do not affect function. Centerfire seems to sell a lot of them at good prices.
Nothing less from the proud Hungarians & the Olympic Water Polo Gold Medal winners.....:D
Damn, I don't have a FEG in my collection as yet.

No question that the Walther P99 is a wonderful 9mm handgun, especially the one with AS trigger configuration. Every firearms enthusiast should at least give one a try. But the Walther I'd recommend as "sleeper" material is the P5. It remains my favorite, all-time, must-take-to-the-range-every-time handgun by a long shot. It is 100% reliable, amazingly accurate, and a hoot to shoot. SOG has them for under $400 -- as good a deal as you'll find anywhere on a superb piece of German craftsmanship.

I think I may have found a 45 ACP that I like, the CZ-97B, it hits all my targets (pun intended), it has a nice meaty grip, excellent ergos, and points and aims well, and it has nice, clean lines and understated appearance, plus, it's got the beefy metal construction I like

Now I know what to save up for

Nice as I've found CZs so far I'd have to agree about the 97B!

But the darn Glock 36 on the back of a magazine in my throne room (that I handled once when they first came out) is talking at me....

Steyr M-A1 the ultimate sleeper

With CDNN blowing them out at $339 + shipping, and both 9mm and 40 S&W available, not to mention great accuracy from the trapezoid sights, 12+1, Steyr's have to be the ultimate sleeper.

Biased owner report...

My wife who had previously only fired a Glock 17, and just dry fired the Steyr M40-A1, went to the range and promptly shot a 3" grouping for 20 shots at 3 & 7 yds. "It's great!"

Now I have to worry about her out shooting me. Sigh.:D

Wow, I didn't find this with search so I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the CZ-52 that uses the 7.62x25 Tokarev ammo. A fire breather.

Pictured here with a Government size 1911 for comparison.

Wilson Combat ADP 9mm.

Small, lightweight, slim, fits hands perfectly, comfortable, 10+1 round capacity, finger extension on magazine, reliable, accurate, fixed barrel, tuffcoat slide to minimize wear, factory night sights, and ugly according to a lot of people.

Of all the guns mentioned, THIS is the definition of a sleeper since nobody knows about it. I happen to love this gun and I have not have any failures since I bought it almost 2 years ago.

Buds has one new for $600 shipped or so.

FNP-9 is the best sleeper

Over 1000 rounds and still going strong. Easy to carry, easy to clean. If more people buy them, more third-party manufacturers will offer more accessories like holsters, mag pouches, etc.

Definitely the entire Kahr line, although, it seems that people are coming out of their deep sleep and realizing what fine ccw guns they are.

I call them the undiscovered HOPE diamond.

Fellas, as much as I love my Glock 26, I have to give an equal nod to my Colt "New Agent" 1911A1. It's slim, has a heavy 3" barrel. However, both have been fully reliable, and both are more accurate than I'll ever dream of becoming. IMHO, both are to be respected for their purpose. A G26 on the ankle is easily accessible, and is invisible. A "New Agent" IWB is invisible even during hot summer days, while in a t-shirt. Choose your poison.

BTW, awesome thread. This was a great read...thanks.
