What Are Your Grails?

I really want a Colt WWI Repro with the carbonia blue finish. Not unattainable, but I buy my guns to shoot and I wouldn't shoot an original.

I'm saving up for when I find the right pristine condition Pasadena .44 Auto Mag pistol.

I recently bought one of my "holy grail" guns I've wanted for a long time, an LAR Grizzly .45 Win Mag. :D

The only pistol I really want that I think qualifies as a "grail" is a glock 18. It is essentially unobtainable but there is still a part of me that hopes some how some day I might be able to legally own own.

S&W 66-2 or 66-3 with a 3" barrel. I have found a few but not at the right price or the right condition. People are very proud of these and think they are worth more than they really are. I'll eventually find one at the right price and when I do, I'll buy it. Also, a S&W 629 Backpacker.

All three of mine are from The War.

One I've gotten ahold of, a 1943 Union Switch & Signal, lightly worn but all original down to the Du-lite. Possible 9th infantry provenance (still writing letters)

The two remaining are a 1941 Johnson in original condition, and para-carbine with 101st provenance (yeah I know, good luck on that last one)

None of my holy grails are autoloading pistols. :) ;) This assumes that a grail is something one has yet to attain.

I use a couple of SIG P229 DAK pistols in my occupation as a big-city police patrol officer, one of those a nice SAS model. These are wonderful pistols, and as we (in my PD) buy our own duty weapons, I spent the money for the best, within the constraints of department policy. (.40, DA auto)

I also love the 1911, and my Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special is as good as it gets for a carry 1911, IMHO.

No, my current autoloaders are truly great enough. I am an old sixgunner, and dream of Freedom Arms Model 97s in .45 Colt, and Flat Top Target Bisleys by USFA.

My "grail gun" is nothing spectacular. It's a 9mm Sig P226 or 229 with threaded barrel and suppressor. It's not hard to find or illegal where I live, it's just too damn expensive for me right now ;)

I found one them this year.

My gun money account had about 300 in it. I went to a gunshow with an over/under I knew I would prob never use, ended up selling it, went directly to the Sportsman's Warehouse to give it the once over.

Well, wouldn't ya know it, there is an Italian Beretta 87 there that they just got in. I said I'll take it.

The wish list:
Colt ACE
Colt Diamonback 22 in 4 and 6 inch

6 1/2" .44 Automag.

Colt Detective Special .38Spl w/ejector-rod shroud.

An original cased black-powder dueling pistol set.

ex- RCMP/RNWMP Colt New Service revolver.
Got one.

Well, not RCMP or RNWMP, but a 1906 Colt New Service. Mine was re-blued and most of the markings almost polished off -- no longer a collector's piece. It had a front sight about as wide as a razor blade and a rear sight notch to match. It shoot 18" high and a foot to the left.

I soldered on a honking big slab of steel, 1/8" wide, carefully filed it down, then opened the rear notch, shading it to the left, now she shoots where she looks.

my grails

Two Colt 70s, 45 acp. Custom work done by Neil Keller of Kustom Ballistics.

Both wear elephant ivory grip panels and live in a double shoulder holster rig, made for me by Rudy Lazano of Blackhills leather.

Ended my quest last year.

Krochus, that's probably a good one to KEEP as your grail instead of finding one.

Me? A Sig 210 would be worth trading my 1951 9mm Colt LW Commander for - maybe even my perfect 1962 National Match, IF the Sig was a nice one.

marlin .45 acp camp carbine......yes, I know, quite common, but I've never seen one and will DIE if I don't get one soon........

Colt Delta Elite 10mm

My only semiauto grail other than a BHP. I fondled a Delta Gold Cup sometime around 1990 and decided it was a little more than I wanted to spend. Now the beat up used ones bring a higher price even when adjusted for inflation. Hopefully the new Delta Elites that were shown by Colt earlier this year will eventually hit the market.

First, and easiest: The Luger P08, always wanted one, always will. And in the same category a Walther P38.
Next, usually impossible, and costing somewhere in the range of a small house: Beretta 93R with the 3 round burst, I know its far fetched but I want it. And a Mauser in 9mm with select fire, never seen one anywhere for sale.

Sleep...........oh you mean gun related..................
I would like a browning bdm with a moutian on hi cap mags.

I am in California which makes these even more difficult;
HK P9S .45
HK P7 M13
Walther P5 Compact
Smith 3 inch 547
Python 4 inch blued full coverage engraving
Python 4 inch nickel
NIB Colt Commander .38 Super
