Springfield Armory GI-45. Yeah thoseminiscule sights can be a drawback, but the 5" 1911-A1 just seems to point exactly where I want.

Those sights are about the smallest I have ever seen on a Military Service Sidearm.

I'm left handed so I have a DAO Sig sp2022 with night sites. Just pull the trigger no safeties or de-cockers to worrry about on the wrong side of the gun.

My Ruger SR9

Why? Cause I'm a poor college student and am waiting a few months before I get a 1911, because I need to save a bit. That new Remington is looking nice though

Ser. 70 on the night stand . Mod 97 under bed .

If I have to explain why , you wouldn't understand .

Ill try though . I regularly carry and practice with the full size .45 I don't want something other than my most familiar by my bed .

Why would i use the thumbuster when I have a 500c and several bird guns around the house ?
I works and I don't need a 3" mag ripping giant holes in and out the house endangering other than the identified threat . That and I have had the '97 since I was 12 . Also in the one time I needed the '97 for defense being able to de-cock and secure the first assailant and immediately re-cock in response to a second threat was somewhat more comforting than simply applying and releasing a safety even though it accomplished near the same thing .

HK USP 40 Fullsize with M3 light

Personally I like to have my unsecured loaded gun to have a safety. 13 rds of 40cal light and extra mag, gives me warm fuzzy's at night

See, I'm the exact opposite. I prefer my carry/home defense guns to have no manual safety. To me it's an extra action that can cost you a second or more that you may not have. I like to know that all I need to do is pull the trigger.

Nice choice of a gun though.

IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!

This is the oldest thread I could find where people were listing what they use for daily home defense. I would love to hear if you are still using the same gun and if not, why?

Thanks.
:) Can't resist.
CZ P-01 with tac light w/16 round mag, duty ammo.

I use an AR-15. And NOT one in a pistol format.

I do have an M&P 9 on my nightstand, but it is in a Bladetech holster.

I have two XD 45s, an XD - 40SC, a Kimber TCII, A Kimber BP10, A RIA 1911, A Colt Series 70, a Colt Series 80, a Springfield Loaded 1911, a Glock 26 and a custom 1911 I built using a Caspian Frame and Slide. I use the first one I can grab. They all operate 100%. If all else fails, my trusty Colt Anaconda .44 magnum is always handy.

XD40 with 165gr Gold Dots and on my side a Kimber Custom II with Federal 185gr HI-SHOKs and a Sears & Roebuck 12 gauge with OO Buck under the bed. We had an attempted home invasion about 8 yrs ago. You all understand what I mean by attempted, right?

My Kimber Custom II 1911, utterly reliable, goes bang every time, and eats anything I feed it, from WWB 230 grain ball, to Speer Gold Dot HP, to my LSWC handloads, it has yet to choke on anything I feed it

Thank Og I haven't had to use any of my firearms in a defensive situation, but I have utmost confidence that the KCII will do what's needed to stop the threat(s)

If the KCII doesn't stop the threat(s), I'll have to fall back to my Mossy 500 stocked with #4 Buck....

Bedside an HK USP Full in .40 S&W with extra two mags, one extended, all with Federal Hydra-Shok 185 gr..

For the rest of the house a S&W 5" 686 seven shot loaded and one speed loader with .38 spl. Federal Hydra-Shok 110 gr. and one speed loader of Nyclads.

In the workshop a S&W Model 64 loaded with Nyclads and two speed loaders of Nyclads.

In the yard a SIG 238 (or 232) with Golden Sabers.
