Favorite Caliber?

I have just started shooting Handguns again, 911 was a wakeup call , My first handgun was a Erma pistol in a 380 ACP, shot alot with it in the 1980's, before, and moved up to Berreta 13 round 380 automatic, Pre Brady. So my reference to handgun was limited. These were the weapons I used for home protection for 20 years. Over the years Colt Trooper III, a Single Six, LLama 38 special. With in the three years, I have used a Springfield XD 9mm and a XD40. I like them both, but perferred the 3" 9mm XD for home use. The XD40(4") found a new home, with my brother as a gift. Hated to see it go, but I had choice one for home protection.

I have been handgun Hunting for a several (5) years , which started with a 357 Blackhawk, I like the SA over DA revolvers, Next purchase Blackhawk 41 magnum, latest purchase a Ruger SRH 454, a bargain I could not pass up. The way I come into the handguns is usually by accident, not looking to purchase a new gun, just fall into a good deal. I have never sold any handguns I have purchased, they all have a place in my heart and I do shoot each during the year.

With all the cailbers I own, I guess I can say the my most favorite caliber is:

:) 41 MAGNUM - Ruger Blackhawk 6 1/2 with BSquare scope mount with a red dot sight. Sweet round, but limited choices in bullets :)

The 454,, has been a bit to much for my small hand and frame,:banghead: but I am working out the problems, I will start loading 45 Colt light and work my way up to 454, but I am not sure if this baby is right for me. I think the bargain overrule my common sense. I am working on a trade with my brother, but I have not made up my mind yet!

The other cailbers are fun to shoot, and each has its uses and purposes.

Thanks, Alex

I carry the 40 caliber, taurus millenium pro. Its the middleweight champion of the world.:D Combines speed, weight, and expansion, best of all three in my opinion. I'm fine with the recoil as well, I'm deadly accurate with my fawty.:D

Once I move to greener pastures and a free state I will be carrying a .40 in an HK P2000 or an HK P2000sk.

I just feel .40 is the right size bullet for the job. I feel its benefits outweigh both the 9mm and .45 ACP simply due to the capacity and size of the bullet.

The trick is to find what your comfortable carrying.

Usually carry a .45 but also at times according to how I'm dressed, where I'm going, or just my mood at the time, a 9MM or .38Sp. The only reason I rarely carry the .357 is that mine are too long barrelled to conceal well except under a Winter coat.

Starting at the bottom. I carry my my NAA mini 22lr everywhere clipped to my pocket,my 25 hides above the sun visor on my truck,38 is BUG when I feel I might be going somewhere I might need a second,9mm is primary CCW,44 special does nightstand duty,44 mag when facing critters that bite hard is under a surplus GI parka, and 45lc/410 is in my hip pocket when I put my pants on.

one shot one kill

It says ".45 ACP - Because no matter how you rationalize it, 9mm is still for women and pansies"

Well I'm not a woman, so I must be a pansie then.

KAHR P9

124 Gr. Hydra Shok JHP's in this perfect concealment weapon works fine for me. As does a newly aquired S&W Model 60 .357/.38 Spl. Cold weather brings out my fave..S&W .357 Model 65-3 "K" Frame.

For "Concealment", the KAHR P9 is truely hard to beat. Given the weather here, the KAHR (9mm) would be my "primary" carry weapon.

9x23 Winchester in a Caspian-based Commander. I love having 10 rounds (9+1) of 9x23 Corbon DPX at my disposal. Actually, it's 19 rounds if you count the spare mag I carry as well. Figure if I can't resolve a potential situation with 19 rds., I just wasn't meant to solve it.

Well as a mature woman :what: I see no reason to carry a 9mm. My prefernce is a 1911 with a 5 inch barrel.

This is a relative question. It very much depends upon what my attire entails. If it's 115 degrees outside and I'm not wearing as jacket, I would carrry my .25 Titan in a pocket or on the ankle. If it's a bit cooler outside and I am apt to wear a jacket or longsleeved shirt, then my 9mm in a shoulder holster is preferred. I open carry more than conceal so that's another factor.
