Bore is in pretty bad shape, but it's a beautiful piece otherwise.

woohoo!

My father renewed his range membership. :)

He's been threatening to drop it because he'll be 82 next month and he's been having periods of numbness in his arms and hands from degenerating disks in his neck. He likes shooting handguns and it makes it sort of hard some days. Of course, his favorites are a tad heavy - a 6" Python and an 8 3/8" Model 17 with a scope.

Bonus Present -
The day after Christmas we made the annual holiday trip to his local gun store - 4 blocks. After looking at a pile of bricks of .17 HMR he got the salesman to show him a couple of Anshutz rifles. He's thinking about getting one, but might go with a .22 instead. I'll do some looking around here and then tell him to go buy one because the prices weren't too bad. Now, if I can just convince him to get the 17xx series and not the 15xx. I think the trigger on the 17xx will make the sale. He can afford it.

I think what started all this was sitting in the den Christmas day fooling with a Leupold 3x-9 EFR I had with me. He hadn't seen it before and was suitably impressed with what he could see with it.

Seems like Santa has spread his generosity and good cheer quite widely and nicely!

I sorta cheat ... cos my Late November December was a tad heavy on ''aquisitions''! But Xmas itself ... well (and apologies, I have posted this before) .... my dear wife sorta ''covered'' some ammo bought a week ago at gun show ... it should be enough for one day out at least!:p

I asked my potential Pollyanna (sic) for Win White Box .223 and .45ACP, and facetiously, added "a Class 3 ticket, please".

Pollyanna, divulging her identity Christmas day said she didn't know how to provide the Class 3 and, dropping the standard $25 in my hand, asked "What's two-two-three and forty five ACP?".

Guess I have an education program to work out, huh?

Daughter & Grandkids chipped in for a Kodak digital camera, so soon's I figure out the bells and whistles maybe I can find a way to post a GUN picture. (There's the qualifier, staff.)

Got one box of Fed .308 Win in 168 gr HPBT.

Marlin 1894 in .44mag

I usually don't make out nearly this well on guns. I think I've received (counting the above) 6 guns as Christmas presents over my life (including the requisite Red Ryder when I was a kid :) ). This year though, Big 5 (a western states sporting goods store) had too good of prices on the above guns for my family to resist. And one of them is technically a birthday present, but as I mentioned in another thread, because my birthday is a week before Christmas, I can't quite convince anyone not to mix my presents together. :)

Ruger 50th Anniversary Year Single-Six...the gold roll-mark barrel model with rosewood (?) grips.

"Traditions" brand repro brass-frame 1851 Navy Colt in .44 (Italian made, but dont remember the name..LLI Pietra maybe)

Leatherness searched every gun store in the area for a Walther P38 I've been after, with no joy. So she got me a Beretta pistol lock :barf:

...packed in the same box as the stainless 92FS in 9mm. :D :D :D

I'm getting myself a 3 day class with Pat Rogers and Steve Tarani. ($500)

Cash toward the guns of my choice from my Mom. A new (to this keen old target rifle) brand of .22LR ammo for practice, from my GF. Wisdom from my GF's father (who's definitely BT and DT) during a Christmas Day conversation about the benefits and drawbacks of the M1, M14 and AR. A spiffy new extendo-leash for Sam the Wonder Dog, who'll start hunting next year.

Gun stuff: 4 boxes of Winchester 9mm 115-grain (mmmm...longer range time...).

Non-gun stuff: a Sears Craftsman All-In-One Cutting Tool (honey-do
list forthcoming... ;) )

Frankford Arsenal tumbler
Unforgiven DVD
Reservoir Dogs DVD

Thats about it, one side of my family gave me cash instead of the reloading kit I wanted so I am in the process of purchasing said kit.
