What did you shoot today?

I was using my 1187 trap gun for varmint control for a while with my deer barrel on it. Fired a couple 00 buck rounds from it today. Walked the creek and saw nothing to thought I'd just shoot one in to the mud to confirm the sights since it has been a while. About 25 yards across the creek in to a mud bank up over yonder. Mad a big hole in the mud about the size of a basket ball and blew mud enough all the way back at me to put a couple nice blotches right on the shirt I'd just put on fresh about a half hour before.

Cussing and walking back toward the driveway and saw a baby beaver nibbling at something near the bank about 40 -50 yards away ...

1) S&W M&P .22, used on the multiple AP ranges' standing steel plates.

2) Zastava ZPAP. Exactly 660 total rds. used since the rifle was bought in August.

The two empty orange juice bottles were put upon a berm of an Action Pistol range, :Dstaked loosely (via two tiny holes in each bottle) with long weedeater cord.

These insurgents 'danced' with enthusiasm/ jumped anywhere from 1'-6', naturally depending upon where they were hit by the rifle's 7.62x39 bullets.
The direction of 'jump' was as random as with a startled cat.

Trying to make my language as clear as possible.
>>>> Because...aren't there about 2 million new shooters in the US? Some of them must be joining private gun clubs, and might even assume that an Action Pistol range requires them to be a really Good shot. Not at ours --- the only qualification is to be a Safe Shooter, and suddenly, you basically have your own short distance, but 'private' range (25-30 yards) at our club!

Another great day with my Black Mamba .22 .

Shot our Steel Challenge Match this morning and beat my average score. Getting better with this gun and starting to feel very comfortable with the way it is set up.

It was a little cold this morning, starting out in the 40s so I put hand warmers in my shooting bag to keep the ammo hot. I've had problems in the past with squib/light ammo in the cold so I went prepared today.

I shot CCI MiniMag 40 grain Hollow Points and had no feeding problems. Why HPs, because I had them. Ammo is hard to find and I'll shoot what I can get. I wanted to shoot jacketed instead of waxed bullets because of the cold so my Blazers sat out today.

Czech CZ PCR (75 D): 9x19 mm. Over 700 rds., and if avoiding Win. 'white box' or the Win. "Forged" garbage, perfect with Russian or decent US-made ammo.

Zastava ZPAP.: nib in August. 650 total rds., zero issues. 1.5 mm thick receiver, has the same bulged trunnions, for extra strength, as the military versions with grenade-launchers.

Caution: these weigh more than the 1.0 mm (thick) receiver AKMs ! :what:Isn't life Tough?!

Shot my Walther 1911 22 today and had a couple of surprises.

Twice it fired out of battery. Not Good.

I think I need a heavier recoil spring. I've got a reduced power spring in now but may have to put the OEM spring back in. Blown cases_edited.jpg

Picked up my Lakefield Mark II today, left work early too. Didn't bring anything with me so had to buy some ammo and targets. Put 70 rds of mini mags thru it. Very fun gun to shot, hard to see the sights, installed a cheap $15 Tasco scope on it afterwords. Well worth the $150 for it 20211218_163754.jpg

Another fun day. Another outing shooting guns I've owned for the first. First time shooting my M1 Garand, M44 Mosin, 36/51 French Mas, also brought my M1 Carbine and my Sig AR since I put a new optic on it and wanted to get it sighted in but didn't fully. The M44 was the most fun to shot, every one was looking over at what was shooting fireballs and thumping so hard. 20211219_121253_HDR.jpg

I shot a Steel Challenge Match today and had my best match in 3 years. Shot my Black Mamba with CCI Mini Mags because it was cold for us, started out at 53 and ended up at 64 degrees.

I was prepared with Long Johns and three sweaters.

I've had troubles in the past running CCI SV in the cold so I chose to shoot the Mini Mags. They really worked well with no failures at all.

We only shot 5 stages but I had my best runs on every one of the stages. I've been doing a lot of practice lately and it looks like it's paying off.

The same guns in post # 855 (above). : CZ PCR (75D) in 9mm, Zastava ZPAP in 7.62x39.

Two of the three guns equated to a "Double-Czech" day.

The other rifle taken today is identical to this Czechpoint / CSA VZ-58 in 7.62x39 (please note: some are chambered in 5.56/.223!). It Is Not an AK derivative :scrutiny:-and has a milled receiver (plus a bayo Lug !) ….Zero parts interchange, totally different action , mags, everything------------.
A neighbor (Fedex MD-11 pilot) finally had time to go along to the club, had never shot an AKM. We have lived near him for 15 years.

The Czech factory uses Lothar Walther barrels from Königsbronn Germany.

Sighted in a new Athlon Midas Tac on my 6.5 PRC. Really like it.

Put a few more test rounds through the MPA. I was hoping for better results; my bench technique isn’t great. I’ll go prone next time out.

Another "Big Brother vs Little Brother" range day today, featuring:
Big Bro: Swiss WF Bern 1915 model 1911 7.5 mm long rifle, and ...
Little Bro: Swiss WF Bern 1923 model K11 7.5 mm short rifle variant of above,
... shooting GP11 ammo:

I also have a K31, but he's a cousin, and he didn't come to the shoot.

I do wanna get a Swiss k31. Keep hoping my regular shop gets a clean one in to toss on layaway. They've had 2 in the past year but had beat up stocks. I've even starting buying ammo for one

Shot my 1911 22 and my P 22 today. The 1911 still have a problem with hammer follow. I need to rework the sear spring so that should only take 1/2 hour to fix. I'm going to put a new spring in instead of bending on the one that's in there already.

It also needs a new rebound spring. A few times the slide would not go fully forward. 1911 stock springs do not fit so I'm thinking of checking out Wolf Springs. I fired 300 rounds of CCI Blazer.

I shot the P22 with CCI Stingers today. Wow I love the muzzle blast and got a lot of people checking out my shooting station when I fired. I only shot 50 rounds from this gun but it was a blast.

I had 3-4 failure to return to battery, may be break-in or perhaps striker or recoil spring. Cleaned & oiled prior to shooting, I'm going to try a very light touch of grease next time on the rails & feed ramp.First one worked the center then dots at 10 yrds, 2nd was at 15, 3rd Norma at 15&20 yds.
