What do have waiting for you in the reloading room?

I hear you… however, the furnace guy I know; well, we met in a ccw class and have bumped into each other at the range… 😁
I’ve got several batches of brass waiting on me too decide what bullet/powder combo.

Even if I knew my furnace guy or bumped in to them at the range, they sure don't need to know all my business. Not even my family knows all of my business and they won't until after I die. As the kids say these days, "You do you though"! 😬

I did find a batch of .357 brass that needs attention, so there's that waiting for me.

I haven’t loaded a round in near 10 years. I don’t even own some of the calibers I used to load lots of today. I moved in 2014 and my stuff is all in boxes still. The good news is I was quite addicted and have had enough loaded ammo to get me by until rescently. I’m down to shooting 30-30 and 270win for large game and still have several ammo cans of 45 and 460rowland. Several cases worth of shot shells still. Fixing to have to get set back up and load 308 and 223.

I have still added modestly to my component stash over the years when a good deal arouse like the local sporting good store clearancing me a few cases of powder when they shut down. But it’s really all just in boxes here and there and I don’t know what I have anymore. If you put all the boxes of reloading equipment and components in a pile it wouldn’t go in a pickup bed though. I had about 15 presses at one time, I think I still have them all plus a Lyman 8 turret kit I got a screaming deal on marketplace on 4-5 years ago. I had a whole basement room at one time, not sure where to setup now. I should probably lay everything out and just build a simple bench big enough for 2-3 presses like a normal person.

I haven’t cast a bullet in 10 years either, but I’ve still collected tire weights and even bought a Lyman sizer at an estate sale, I have an RCBS one. There’s a 50 gallon drum of ingots outside my shop door that I couldn’t get inside when I moved. Lots of 5 gallon buckets in the sea container, but the buckets have busted now so the ingots are just everywhere.

For this weekend I will need one more test run of 110gr .38’s: 12 each 6.4gr AutoComp and 5.6gr W244. Those are the two finalists. AutoComp gives slightly better velocity but it’s a little blasty from a true snub; W244 has better flash suppression but even at close to max I’m not getting 875fps at 25’ from a 2”. Both are accurate enough and clean enough and both are available at about the same price. Silhouette has a lot more bark but will get noted as a substitute standard for this bullet.

This weekend is no on call and nothing else planned so I’m going to cruise around a few counties looking for components. I don’t need anything - but what does need have to do with it 😂
Cruise around a few counties? Sounds like great fun.

We actually do that as often as we can--go west to Blue Ridge & Shenandoah Valley (lots of gun stores) or east to Chesapeake Bay (lots of crabs, oysters, & rockfish).

Either way is great time.

Enjoy.

Im sticking around here nursing my gout and re-preparing for Monday range visit. I'm going this time, regardless of pain, to continue my case longevity non-test. Maybe I'll shoot sitting down for one of few times ever. (No draw and shoot I guess:)

About as boring as several plastic bins of brass waiting to be sized.

Still processing the brass I shot over Christmas out in NV... a bunch of .308. I've also got a pile of about 300 6.5ManBun brass to size; the sad part about that is... about half of that is already sized... sorta. Half way through the cycle I realized the die was set improperly and wasn't touching the shellholder. Me thinks I had the die set for the Lyman shellholder, not the RCBS... which is a bit thinner.

Even more boringerer is the pile of weapons that need cleaning...

All kinds of stuff to play with. Got a new rifle (Tikka T3X super varmint) and wanting to develop all kinds of loads for it, from 52-77gr. So been busy buying different bullets and researching potential loads. Looking forward to finding the best loads for it. I may already be close on 52gr SMK's. Moved the scopes zero point between shooting the 2 groups. 5 shot groups, 100yds, fairly windy.

My favorite load for the 223R is with the 52gr SMK using TAC. It's been consistent sub moa in 4 guns so far. The AR that has the Kreiger Ultra Match barrel shoots 1/2 moa. The wind does like to move the light bullet around though at 200+ yrds.

It's a great .223 bullet for sure. My wife actually found them on the shelf at the local Bass Pro and asked if I'd tried them yet. Figured why not? Very happy with them. Just ordered 500 more of them yesterday. Ammoseek is your friend!

I separated about a dozen of the gun show .45’s that I got in a trade. It’s actually a pretty decent 200gr cast LSWC over what looks like a 5.3-5.5gr charge of W231. They are coming apart on the second strike of the hammer and so far they all look good. No signs of undersizing or the dreaded mushroom nose from the inertia puller.

Only 470 (give or take a few) to go!

You jynxed me. My left shoulder to wrist. All the joints are swollen and I can’t use the arm. But I did get some driving done and some shooting in. First stop was a pawn shop where my wife and I know the owner real well. She found some jewelry she liked so we spent most of the day at one place. Which is fine. He has a big Laz-Boy on the floor for sale. 😁

More of the 52gr SMK's to play with. Been trying ladders with other .224 bullets with H335. I just cannot find a good load with that powder for either of my .223's. I'd give up on it, but I have an 8lb jug to use up. Oh well, the fun is in the hunting for the best loads.

I have some 45 auto brass to wet tumble. Some 9 mm to decap. I also have some bullets waiting to go into said brass again… Have some 308 brass, and some 110 Vmax to load up… And, instead, I’ve cleared off part of the gun bench, and I am painting a dresser I rebuilt for my daughter…

Have IMR4895 or IMR4064? Those ought to work pretty good.

This is for JEBruns.
Thanks. I have plenty of CFE223, which both of my .223's like. I'm just trying to find a load with H335 so that my 8# jug doesn't spend it's life gather dust on the back of the shelf.
Sounds like you having the same luck (bad) as I did with H335. Luckily I only bought 1 lb and not 8#. TAC has become my favorite powder for the 52gr SMK, 26.1-26.2 gr. CFE 223 has worked too but not near as good as TAC.
I have CFE223 and Tac. I'm getting .2xx" groups with 26.0 grains of CFE223 and the 52gr SMK's at 100yds. I had only tried the Tac with heavier bullets. Might have to give it a try with the 52's.

Went to the range tonight to gather brass. Got almost a full five gallon bucket. Found five pieces of 45-70 brass. I normally find that short Hornady crap but these were Starline. They'll be going into my stash. Gonna skip going Sunday morning. It's supposed to get down to 21 degrees and I have at least 3000 bullets I need to cast. Tall order for one day but I'll see what I can do.
