What gun conversations/threads do you not engage in? Not trying to be ironic.

The ones that ask specifically "Brand X or Brand Y and 2/3 of the answers are for something totally different including, but not limited to, different calibers or designs. Jeesh, get a life.

When you're a nube to shooting it's hard to avoid posting awful threads. I am responsible for threads types that I now hate. The more I shoot and hang with other gun owners, the questions I ask and things I want to talk about mature and change.

Guns are just so cool when you first get into shooting if you didn't grow up with them - anything that appears to be taboo to the majority is always exciting to new comers. After a while you start to make it a hobby or sport and less of an accessory. As I age I like shotguns more and more and have started shooting clays regularly.

All I wanted to do years ago was fill a target full of .40 +P and act like I knew what I was doing and what made the best carry combo from ammo to gun to holster. I was a real operator! I mean hell, my damn THR handle makes me look like a fanboy, and at one time that was the case.

I can't stand 1911 and Glock threads.

Other threads like "this vs. that" and "the perfect X" don't bother me too much as I know they are just new to guns or don't know much. They are trying to make conversation or seem cool, in my opinion. I tend to like "bang for buck" or "cost" discussions. I can afford pretty much whatever I want, but it doesn't mean I am not budget conscience or try to grab the best gear at a bargain price. It's all relative - what are my priorities, shiny guns or a hell of a lot more in my retirement fund? I've got a wife and it's funny how every time I buy a new gun she coincidentally needs a new hand bag... How can something that shoots fire out the end of it be cheaper than something that holds money?

I suppose if God were to carry, assuming heaven is governed with pro-gun legislature, he'd have a 1911 on his hip and a Glock in his boot. My understanding is they have no equal. Although, I'm sure he could drop you just as easily with a fart, so the sweet bang-bangs are just for show probably.

And for perspective, I live about 25 mins from the Glock factory in Smyrna, GA. It's a miracle that I have avoided the indoctrination that is "Glock". Can't say the same for my buddies.

I thinks that's a nickel's worth from me...

Anything about religion or politics. My religion is mine, and so are my politics. Yours are yours. People forget that that's ok.

Doesn't seem to be an issue on this forum, but the guy behind the counter needs to sell guns, not degrade other peoples beliefs.

OK............but now you're gotten me curios, are you saying that you were asked in a LGS, what you're religion is?

I've been around a long time and never encountered that.

IMTHDUKE - the rope is always longer than you thought, or shorter. It's never the length you thought it was.

When guys are new they have many questions that to some of our more seasons vets think are old hat or very droll.. This is a forum for discussion and it might be something one of our old hands says that clicks with a new member and helps them to finalize their thought process on a certain item.

Very few things are asked that are new; most everything has been covered in a myriad of ways so should we just make THR a historical sight with comments not allowed? New people are excited in many cases and are looking for knowledge/self affirmation on a given topic. "Golly Gee I don't want to hurt my new thang"!

I have to agree many topics would be better served with the search function but like many things that get repeated, "are we there yet"?

Nice thing about a forum is you can chime in or just read or ignore; your choice.

I agree with 40sandwhero51. The longer I shoot the more "evolved" my thread selection becomes.

"How many/which guns do you have/want/lust after?", or "How much ammo do you buy/reload/have on hand?", or "What training do you have/want/lack?", or "What's th most fun thing you've ever shot/blown up/set fire to?"

As almost anyone can read almost anything we post here, perhaps some data should be treated as privileged.
