What gun do you use for Home defense??

My wife's Winchester 1300 12ga with #4 buck...

unless my Imbel FAL is closer to me. That is at night. Usually my Glock 19 or .357 S&W is in my pocket during the day.

Primary is a Benelli M1S90, wearing an Insight M3X light loaded with 7 #1 Buck.

Secondary is a SIG 220ST wearing an Insight M3 loaded with 230 grain Remington Golden sabers.

Depends

Have a Kahr PM9 in the bedside drawer (it's a small drawer!) and keep the G30 loaded at all times in my office. Others may or may not be loaded.

I am toying with the idea of buying a trap shotgun which would take over main HD duty if so (although would still leave the Kahr where it is). Right now pistols is all I have, so imperfect though they are for HD that's what I use.

Somewhat helped in this by having no kids to worry about access.

shot heat for the home

Mossberg 590 Mariner 9 rounds (3 slugs and 6 00 buckshot)

Glock 29 in the nightstand

Shotgun is the way to go for home defense though...:D

Welcome to both you new members.

Nice to see you have such good taste in HD weaponry, speaking of shotguns, of course.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: my K9 is on my hip as I write this, because the 870P (loaded with 00) is 33 steps from here (14 of them 'up').

Ah, another Friday night at work. But at least I've got THR during the breaks to keep things interesting.

Smith and Wesson model 625 .45 ACP revolver loaded with 230 grain JHP +P ammo.

i'm 17 years old, and this is my first gun bought with my money. Cleanest, smoothest pistol I've ever shot (revolver, that is). Not letting it go for a long, long while. After Smith and Wesson, I don't think I'd ever buy another type of revolver.

I agree, S&W revolvers are the best on the market. My first handgun was a S&W 686 6".

For home defence, i keep my carry gun on the night stand, G26 with a +1 extension, loaded with Federal HST 147gr.

Next to my night stand, is the Freshmaker, my remy 870 express magnum, with a +2 tube and loaded with 7 rounds of Winchester Ranger reduced recoil 00buck.

If the S really did HTF, my bushmaster is in the closet with a mag in it (black hills 68gr match). All i have to do is drop the bolt and take the safety off.

Risking an outmoded, if still popular mode of agreement, +1.

Ooooh, nice gun.

What's the barrel length, if I may ask?

Speaking only for myself, when (not 'if') the s hits da fan, I'm not entirely sure which gun(s) I'll grab.

That decision will depend, in part, on where I am with respect to the collection (870P, K9, 642, CZ452 {.22LR}, {soon to come} Rem 700 mountain LSS in 7mm08).

Very likely, the K9 will be riding on my right hip, and the 870 will be within 50 steps.

Beyond those, given a choice, I'd take either the CZ or the 7-08.

The 642 is a pocket luxury for CCW in a time when CCW is meaningful.

its an 18". When i shoot clay, i chuck on a 28", but the short barrel does house duty.

I dont factor my Bushmaster in as a normal house gun. I keep it ready to go mainly for riots (l live VERY close to several large frats in a big college town, and 1 block away 18 months ago they did have some riots where cars got toasted). If external events (aka, external to my immiedate area) warranted it, i have a tactical vest that holds 6 AR mags and 3 Glock 17 mags thats fulled loaded as we speak. In under 3 minutes, i can grab my Bushy, my G17, and the vest, and have 210 rounds of 223 and 68 rounds of 9mm on hand. Just the thing for the beginning of the school year :neener:

Very close to my strategy.

The 870P has an 18" pipe for standard duty.

If (no, when) TEOTWAWKI happens, I hope to also have a 26"-28" barrel to pop on for birds & bouncing rabbits. (Wabbit stew with garlic and potatoes.)

Just an educated guess here: Boulder or Ft. Collins?
