Imagine this scenario: The rulers of wherever you live are contemplating a total gun ban, and this time they will get away with it. You have found a way to hide one single handgun, a single box of ammo, and a handful of gunsmithing tools and spare parts, the rest of your guns and gun related items you loose. This gun will have to cover all your defensive needs for the rest of your life, and the following restrictions apply:
- There are no gunsmiths anymore. If your gun breaks down, and you can’t fix it yourself, you have no gun anymore. You can however have a gunsmith do work on your weapon before the ban takes effect, if there is anything you would like to have done to it.
- You cannot practice shooting. You can dry fire, but actually discharging the gun will with 100% certainty be heard by someone who will alert the police immediately. You will only do this when your life or the lives of those you love depends on it.
- The gun you choose can be no larger than a 4" revolver in the 686 or GP100 class, or you will not be able to hide it well enough.
Now, what gun will you choose? What spare parts will you stock up on? And what precautions would you take to keep it operational throughout your lifetime?
