M1911A1 is the simple choice, the same one my Grandfather carried in WWII, combat tested soldier approved. 1911 has been around for almost 100 years and still going strong.
With that said, I say knowledge is power. If you had the opportunity and the foresight to see this coming then there is no reason not to be able to fix or build any part needed for your selected weapon. (gunsmiths are people too) Heck probably the best firearm you could have is one you built from scratch by hand. Learn metallurgy, and become a machinist maybe even include some chemistry lessons to make everything you need from powder to bullets to the firearm itself.
In the end they would have to ban and burn books, people would be next.
Slippery slope all the way.
P.S. Take away all the guns and only criminals will have guns. Funny thing / sad fact is, your now a criminal.
