Under normal circumstances, I keep a Ruger Blackhawk .357 cal loaded with Federal Hydro-shok or Remington Golden Sabers.
With over a decade of cowboy compitition behind me, it's very comfortable and familiar.
If however it feels like a SHTF situation, I'll keep a pair of Springfield Champions w/Wilson Nite Eyes.
Since the baby started walking and reaching, it's no longer a "nightstand" gun but a "closet shelf" gun: a S&W 642 Airweight, S&W 686 next to it in the Gun Vault along with a S&W 19 snubnose. Ammo is 158-gr. LSWCHP+P. Also in closet, a Second Chance vest. Bedside is a Surefire 6P or 9P and Fox Labs pepper spray. Motion lights outside, deadbolt locks on all doors, and 170 pounds of male dogs sleeping downstairs.
Taurus .357 magnum with hollowpoints. I do keep a lock on it with the key hidden nearby. It's actually my wife's revolver - the only firearm she likes to shoot.
It varies, but usually a Glock 31 with an M3 & 16 rounds of 125gr Cor-bon, or a Para-Ordnance P14-45 w/17 rounds of 230gr Hydra-shoks. My night stand isn't much closer than the safe, so I guess I could have just answered, "all of them."
Norinco 213 9mm w/hollowpoints. I keep the magazine across the room so that I actually have to get up and start to think before I shoot someone. Don't know how others feel about it but this is definitely a good idea for me.
Under the bed: Winchester 1300 12 gauge with 18.5" barrel, pistol grip stock and front pistol grip, four 00 buck shells in the magazine (Remington's 12-pellet "bear load"), 3 00 buck and 3 slugs in the side-saddle carrier. Kerchunk.
