What handguns can you just not get into?

I have only shot two different Glocks, and while they do the job of launching bullets very well, they just didn't feel right. HK USP was even worse. I've only shot two of these as well, but I think I'd choose the Glocks over them. The ergonomics on the USP's just didn't work for me.

I don't particularly like the looks of SIG's, but I do like the way a buddy's 226 shoots :D . Are we talking looks only or function as well?

Glock, Khar, Kel Tec, Para Ord, Tarus....

I also boycott Ruger and S&W.

If I want a revolver(which I don't) I'll get a Colt

I do like SIG, HK, Beretta, CZ, Walther, and uhh... others :)

Looking over my list I realized I forgot one. I guess you try to block out the bad experiences of your life...

This goes to the Walther PPK. What a painful POS pocket pistol. Hand doesn't fit the grip, I guess it caused me to jerk it. I aim for the Right arm and hit the left, shoot the head, the bullseye by accident and whereever else the gun wants to point. And one hell of a snappy recoil for a .380. No wonder James Bond tossed the PPK for a P99 :p

"This goes to the Walther PPK. What a painful POS pocket pistol. "

I think, you met with some of the American-made clone. The original GERMAN PPK was a beautifully made, excellent weapon. Even the dimensions were considerably smaller, and the trigger is much better than those made nowadays.

While I'm currently only "into" 1911's and S&W wheelguns, I've owned a blue zillion handguns of all different kinds. The only good, quality pistols I could never warm up to were the BHP and CZ-75. Both fine guns, but for whatever reason, they just didn't do a thing for me.

ruger automatics and para ordinance are the only two I can think of, where ive never had the slightest interest in buying one.

Ruger autos, Glocks, Dan Wessons, any of the "specialty" handguns (bolt action, shillouette, etc.)

Plastic Guns: Glocks and HK's.

Oddly though, I've shot the best I've ever done (pistol or rifle) with a Glock 21, but the top heavy balance just feels awkward. The perceived recoil doesn't do much for my hands either.

Maybe I'm biased against them because I had a very bad experience with Skunk's HK USP .40 the first time I shot a handgun.

"Am I shooting blanks!?!?!?!?"

1911s, Glocks, Berettas, Desert Eagles, and pretty much any springfield product. All of that said though, I might score a RIA .45. Maybe I can warm up to that there palm safety thingie

I have no interest in any of the following:

*black powder pistols
*cowboy style pistols
*derringers
*TC Contender single shot pistols
*Race guns, I prefer combat handguns without all the fancy compensaters
and optical sights[/B]

my main interest is 1911's or foreign military pistols and rifles

Those underpowered, jammin, limited projectile profile, brass throwin' semi-autos, just can't warm up to them.:neener: :D

The 1911 being the lone exeption.

While there isn't a doubt in my mind that they work.Plastic pistols just don't do alot for me.They just don't have any soul.At least with a chunk of steel you know(or at least can make-believe)that a skilled craftsman spent time designing/building the thing.

Most little baby semi-auto's with the exception of Beretta's and Baby Brownings.

Kel-Tec's just turn me off, to me they look and feel cheap and ugly, (no offense to their owners).

Tauri, I hate their rollmark. Feel like I am advertising a family sedan. I would put up with the slide safety just to have it say Beretta instead.

Any revolver without an external usable hammer.

Charles Daly rollmarks. If I want a gun with a man's first and last name , I'll put my own on it.

Kahr's, High Point's and most Glocks, not all.

Disregarding the bargain basement junkers , bullet throwers as I call them , I've met very few pistols I actually haven't enjoyed shooting with the exception of 1911's . Nothing other than the shape appeals to me about them but I don't dislike them , just am not able to shoot them anywhere approaching as well as I can anything else .

One thing I find remarkable is how many people are so quick to call Glocks , Sigs , Berettas and S&W's *junk* . They may not appeal to you , or they may not fit your hand and style , but to call them junk seems pretty poorly informed to me - or it's a case of reverse snobbery .

S&W Autos (SW1911 excepted)
Ruger Autos (stainless brick)
HK USP (brick w/ polymer frame, triggers suck)
Sigs ( good pistols,ergonomics not left-hand friendly)
abBerettas (as in abberrations.....trigger pulls well......suck)
Desert Eagles (big, heavy...if I have to carry that much weight for caliber, I'll opt for a lever carbine with a sling & better handing qualities.)
