Just curious.

I was doing some research using THRs search feature.

Help me out here if you will. THR has bashed :

-Firearms: manufacturers, platforms, materials, calibers...
-Disciplines: Benchrest, Cowboy Action, IDPA, IPSC, 3 gun, Shotgun Clay games, Bulls-Eye...
-Law Enforcment, Military, SWAT...
-Training.
-Each other.

I don't mean poking fun at, razzing our friends as we do, posting the classic cliches'...obvious fun, obvious joking...

I mean roll sleeves up, spit on hands and let's rumble, get down and dirty , mean, hair pulling ,biting, eye scratching , hitting below the belt - bashing and trashing.

And we are not into Political season yet...

What are we doing here?
What do the folks that read THR think we are here for?

So for the sake of the search engine and all...

What has not been bashed and trashed yet?

Steve

Thus is the nature of, well, human nature: you can't please everybody, and a segment of those who aren't pleased will be vrey, very displeased indeed - and will say so.

Heck, I don't even know Art's Grandma but if she's like most Grandmas I bet her apple pie is good but sure as the world turns someone else will say NO!!:D

Yeh, they'll stone ya when you're ridin' in your car...
They'll stone ya when you're playin' your guitar.
They'll stone ya when ya sit by the phone...
They'll stone ya when ya live all alone.

But I would not feel so all A-lone...
Everybody must git stoned!

Some stuff, you just don't like in person

Some people, you just don't like in person

No way a keyboard is gonna change that. Besides, it's a lot easier to get into a fight when the only thing that gets hurt are your feelings.

I'm in sales. There isn't anything you can say to offend me that my customers, friends, or wife hasn't already said.....

Besides, think how boring it would be if everybody agreed on everything.....

"A .42 caliber semi-auto revolver is the best....

"Yep, sure is.."

"Yep, sure is.."

yawn

besides, there are some of us that are always right and have to straighten out the other guys... :)

Actully, it just goes to show how politically correct we are...We're Equal Oppotunity bashers!

I belong to several gun forums. Each one a has different level of decorum. You need to understand what is the accepted behavior from forum to forum and adjust your attitude accordingly.

There are several forums that I visit to glean technical information from and there are others that I frequent mostly for fun.

There are truly helpful and knowledgable people on many of these forums.

There is also a fair share of people that like to stir the pot either thru ignorance, inexperience or just getting their kicks by arguing.

Some forums require a larger grain of salt. :D

If you stand in a crowded room and start a conversation involving something you have an opinion on, then don't be suprised if you peace somebody off or receive a negative answer,,,,,,
Even here on the best gun related forum on the net it happens.

If you really want to start a bashing session try that AR15 place.

I'll agree that this is by far the most civilized forum I've seen so far. Read some posts on a car or music forum sometime. I've totally given up on the car forums because there is more fighting than car discussion. The guitar forums I still need because I'm teaching myself to play. I read 3 articles on beginner technique yesterday, and on each one there were such comments on how "This is useless ____ ! I've known this for years and if you dont know it you shouldn't be allowed to own a guitar" to "What a useless article, I didn't learn anything new. You might as well have spent your time ____ a goat than writing this." Mind you the title of each article was "Such-and-such for Beginners."

As for the ripping on everything under the sun, there will always be people who get offended by the slightest things and then hold a permanemt grudge, and until a manufacturer gets God himself to bless every single product coming off an assembly line, people will say this sucks and that is junk until the end of time.

And as has been mentioned, if we all agreed that what we already have is good enough, we'd never have any new great inventions like the WSM cartridges, the 45 GAP, 50 attatchments for your AR rifle, the S&W locking device, ballistic fingerprinting, etc...

Oh wait a minute... ;)

You can bash my cooking, what do I care :neener:
Someone told me the coyotes won't eat the leftovers.
Except when I use venison of course.

Bashing

We are members of a culture attacked by it's government, both political parties, the media, the entertainment industry, law enforcement, international politics, the environmental movement and the UN.

I'm not surprised that we would gripe about it. There is LOTS to gripe about!

How about Hillary? Have we ever bashed Hillary? I don't think we have. :scrutiny: Maybe those guys over in Political, but surely not here in General. ;)

Actually, Steve, the only topic or person I haven't seen bashed on THR, in my short 3 years here, is....

YOU!

Geez, Steve, I think I've seen even the nicest mods attacked once or twice...and a couple of nice folks have been flat out run off....but no one wants to whomp on you. Why is that?

I would flame you, just on general principal, but I'm hoping to get some shotgun lessons at the gathering...;)

Art's Grammaw, on the other hand.....

I'm in sales.
Me too.

There isn't anything you can say to offend me that my customers, friends, or wife hasn't already said
Isn't that the truth!

However, I have a customer that became a friend, and his wife said some stuff to me that was so heinous that I finally had to stop slippin' around to see her in the afternoons....:what:

 :neener:

Yes - I have been guilty of bashing, trashing, and I am not the best representative of THR Mission Statement.

Even fussed at Art's Grammaw once. Not her personally, the soap. I have nothing wrong with Lilac soap, just Gee Whiz Grammaw, not on a wash cloth, that stuff tastes "worser" than just plain soap, which I can attest to not being that great a taste either.

I have been flamed, bashed , trashed. I happen to hold some THR Firsts.

My PM box was the first to be tossed into a lake as it was so hot, and smoking with the vile, vulger PMs I got.

Denny Hansen had never closed a thread, before and his first thread he closed was a thread I started.

THR's Fire Extinguisher was first used on another post in which I was attacked with physical harm in the post to put out the flames.

--

My reason for doing this thread?

THR as a Forum , Members as individuals - took Rich at his challenge to continue to raise the bar. We have done so, and I a proud of this.

I do not want us to lose sight of this.
United we fight to Preserve THR Misson Statement - THR Divided allows Tyranny to make more headway.

Social Experiment if you will, as to why I started this thread, to get ME, and everyone else to continue to raise the bar.

Another first I have around here : First THR member to have the offer of staying in a dog house out back of another member's home...if I ever get to New Zealand, I have a place to stay...:D

How can anyone not like Apple Pie. I bet even Hilery likes apple pie and all defendants have the right to be represented and someone has to do it. Thank God that is no longer me.

I don't believe anyone has said anything bad about criminal defense attorneys on THR.

My mom always said "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all."

And she doesn't use a bar of soap. She has, or had, it's mine now, a rolling pin that is about 2" long and 6" in diameter. You'd never think that a 4' 11" woman could wield something like that so easily. I'm telling ya, the only thing Chuck Norris fears is my mom with her rolling pin. So, I ain't going against her and saying anything bad about ya El T.

(The rolling pin is actually USGI surplus. When my dad was stationed in Thailand, at the close of the Vietnam War, they were shutting down the base, including the dining facility. The mess Sergeant was going to throw out a bunch of rolling pins. My dad rescued one to bring home to my mom.

And, let me tell ya, that thing has been used to make many a WONDERFUL apple pie over the years. Even a pretty good one that I made awhile back.
