i normally go 230gr jhp's but sometimes it is dependant on the gun and what is most accurate, and sometimes, others are more accurate so i use them, but theh majority of the time 230gr jhp's work perfect.
My first choice is the 230gr Winchester Ranger T. I have had real good results even from the Winchester 230gr Civilian SXT's, and 230gr Winchester Ranger Bonded.
I currently carry the federals, but I'm considering burning up a box or ten of TAP and seeing how it goes. Honestly, part of the point of carrying a .45 for me is taking the ammunition design (and associated hype, marketing BS etc...) out of the equation. The thing is pretty much guaranteed to cut a hole 5 hundredths short of a half inch even if you carry ball. Not that I advocate carrying ball, but you get the point.
Honestly, my train of thought is that any hollow point will do its job just fine if I do mine. Ball would probably work just fine too. So I spend $30/box for that extra little piece of mind. But that's all it really is to me.
