What is the most recent knife you bought?

The Dekas came in, and I have to say I'm about as impressed as I've ever been in the quality you get for the money, in a US made knife at that. I didn't realize it at the time, but this is the gen 2 version of the Deka that came out a few months ago, fewer screws and a deep carry clip.

I just read on another forum that there is going to be a polymer handled version of the Deka, and it's going to have a MagnaCut blade! MSRP is $35 less than the G10, and one video I looked at said street price would be just above $100. Definitely going to get one.

I picked up two of those Delicas myself, one with a Wharncliffe blade. Spyderco’s Wharncliffe blades look funky with the tall blade for thumb hole access, but they are releasing a lil native Wharncliffe that looks fantastic. If they make it in a backlock design it’ll be a must buy for me.

I love the St Nicks color scheme but I’m waiting for something smaller. Probably have to pick up a Jester whenever they release it.

Yeah, the Chief is a big knife, but fairly narrow and light, I've been surprised how well it carries, and also with how well the ergos work in normal sized hands during use. I don't think it will be my last Chief. Here's a comparison picture of some of its Spyderco brethren and a native family photo.

How’s this for cute? Spyderco Ladybug. I had no idea just how tiny it would be. And when you read that H1 has poor edge retention, believe it I darn near dulled the factory edge breaking down the box it arrived in!

Yeah, I've seen a lot of magic claims about H1 edge retention over on the Spyderco forum, but I've never seen it myself. My Salt doesn't rust, but it also doesn't hold an edge, I like LC200N better, but think that MagnaCut is going to be the pinnacle of the salt line for most uses.

I guess that was another fairly recent purchase I can post, the MagnaCut Mule.

Before that was the Knifejoy Navy Spyderco Delica in 20CV....

The first Spyderco I ever bought was a Delica back in the early '90s, with AUS8 steel and the plastic "clip" integrated into the scales (still have it). When I heard there was a configuration with a Wharncliffe blade, 20CV steel, and luxurious navy blue scales -- I hadda jump on it. :)

My photos don't do justice to the subtle richness of the scales. With the brightly polished pocket clip gleaming against the deep navy, I think this Delica starts encroaching on "gentleman's folder" territory (at least, to my very subjective eyes :D ).

A shout-out to @SteadyD and @Gtscotty for pointing me in the direction of this KnifeJoy offering... :)

Picked these up last month. They are made by Kershaw. They call them the Secret Agent or something like that. They're cheap, $25 or so. Actually, a pretty decent knife with a full tang 4.25" blade and well thought out sheath for the price. The only downside to them is, they only sharpen the one edge. Not a biggie really, as my Work Sharp sharpened up the other edge right quick.

Picked a couple of these up back around Christmas and really like them. Boker "Butterflies". The red one is actually a trainer and Ive had that for a while. They finally came out with a live blade version and its a good deal, especially considering what the better Butterflies go for. Its a well made, good, solid knife with a smooth action, and comes with a shaving sharp, 4" blade, for only around $85. Been carrying one for daily use since I got it and its been working out well.

Probably to not run afoul of state laws that ban double edged knives.

Nice looking inexpensive knife, good luck with it!
Thanks. :)
You're probably right about the blade. Technically, that sort of knife isn't legal here, and Im not sure it is even with only one edge sharpened. The laws/rules are so scatterbrained and dont seem to follow any kind of logic. I can legally carry a loaded gun, but I cant legally carry this, or even the pocket knife I carry.

When I bought it, I dont remember reading it was only sharp on one edge, but I really didn't read it all that close.

Ive had a few Kershaw knives over the years and they always seemed pretty well made and did OK. For the money, these seem to be a good deal. Most of the time at that price point, the sheaths are usually crap, and this one is well done. The whole setup is simple and functional.

I've only had one Kershaw knife, a Leek. Light and slim in your pocket.

American made, decent steel, nice operating system, well priced. What's not to like?

How do you like that little thing so far?

I use it a lot around the house for those quick small jobs where my beefy full handed EDC is overkill; and many times smaller is just better.

But because it is so small I had to learn how to open it without getting cut. I may be an idiot, but not a total idiot. Let me explain.

I have nerve damage in my hands. My pinkies and ring fingers have the strength of a 3-4 year old, so needless to say, one handed operations with knives take a little tweaking for me.

The easiest way for me to hold the knife is shown in the first photo. My index finger is on the flipper tab. When pushing down on the flipper you can see the heel of the knife digs into my palm allowing my flesh to block the travel of the blade, thus cutting me with the sharp tip.

The second photo shows the safest way for me by pinching the knife with my thumb and middle finger. This takes more concentration and strength, as well as memory when I hastily grab the knife without thinking and go into default mode of a full grasp resulting in a cut.

As long as I don’t get in a rush and remember to “pinch it”, all is well.

Regardless, I still love the knife. It’s cool to me.
