I could stop buying knives, if I wanted to.

Preorder from about a year ago - Carothers Performance Knives. Full satin dagger grind Utility Fighter 2, 6" Delta CPM3V blade, desert ironwood over black canvas micarta handles with turned titanium fasteners and Pirtlemade leather with Ulticlip.

The Valet has always caught my eye, especially the gray G10 one with blue liners and 20CV blade.
Mine will have an M390 blade, which I think is a cousin to 20CV. Could be wrong about that. I'm not sure what the scales are, but the seller says he has all of the paperwork, box, etc., so maybe something in there will tell me.

Yes, M390 is the same as 20CV for all practical intents and purposes. M390 is made by Bohler-Uddeholm, the Austro-Swedish steel giant, and 20CV is an identical alloy made by Latrobe, which is a subsidiary of Carpenter. CTS-204P is also an analogue to M390 and Duratech 20CV, made by Crucible.

CTS-204P is the version of M390 made by Carpenter, Crucible now makes 20CV and possibly always did.

I have an M390 done by Fox and several 20CV done by Spyderco. The 20CV blades are superior in every way. I assume that has something to do with the heat treat, though I claim zero expertise in this regard. I have pitted the 20CV against the M390 and Fox’s M390 has come up short by all measures. It is interesting, if nothing else.

Fox runs M390 softer than ideal for reasons I've never understood. They've run it at RC58-59 when it should probably be at RC60-62.

The swastika or hooked cross has been used for thousands of years. It was a symbol of good fortune long before Hitler wrote about his flag design in Mein Kampf. It was once used to terrorize, but for a relatively brief period in history, from 1933 to 1945. That use has been terminated by treaties and legislation. While we are mindful of the brutality and evil it once represented, the symbol is not evil but was co-opted temporarily by an evil regime.

That’s all true, and I’m not going to let it bother me much.

It’s an unfortunate bit of history surrounding that symbol.
Really when you look at Artisan Cutlery the symbol is different. I think they skipped extra cost for milling. In this particular case, I think they made a poor decision.

I understand your point, it was used in many cultures previous to this, the Basques still use a variant.

But enough damage was done using it in this era that it may never lose its notoriety. The number of new babies given the name Adolf in Germany, where it was once popular, is miniscule.
