What is the most recent knife you bought?

Pros: Nice ergos, love the blade and looks. Blade rockets out when flipped.

Cons: this is a minor thing - Handle is heavier than I expected. The titanium is not milled on the inside. Bigger issue- Detent is heavy and lockbar tension is very high. Blade barely shakes shut. When I lighten the lockbar tension, blade no longer flips out. It is not fidget friendly. I think this is an issue with this knife specifically. I played with a carbon fiber version at a shop, and I didn't have any issues with it. I wonder if it's worth trying to warranty, or if I should just send it down the road....

Dat's It ... Thank You MK-211 for doing your magic ...
One day I'm going to get a 12 year old to teach me how to do things like what you did ...
At one point in time I had a camera , could take photo , somehow get the photo on the computer and posted to a site ... that was three camera's , two computers and a few "upgrades" ago ...
and I have forgotten all the song and dance you have to do . As soon as I learn a cool computer trick ...
everything gets changed and my trick doesn't work anymore ... Sometimes I just hate how computers keep changing things ... old dog has trouble learning new tricks .

After my monetary contribution, I will be getting the NRA-ILA "Freedom Knife", inspired by the Revolutionary-era "Gadsden Flag". I no doubt paid too much but it's for the greatest cause facing America today; preserving the Second Amendment. NRA members can claim one online at: NRAILA.org/FreedomKnife with a contribution of $29.00 (or more).

Headed to Gatlinburgh tomorrow will be making a stop at Smokey mountain knife works to get a sheath for that smith & Wesson double edge knife. Gott keep them protected. I am sure something there will catch my eye and follow me home.

I can't go in that store. I wouldn't have gas money to get home.

Any hiking planned?

Yes going to do some hiking and trout fishing. That store usually takes almost all day. I end up with a new pocket knife maybe some meat cutting knives and some kitchen knives for my wife. Have all 3 of my grandchildren going so probably new knives for them too. Hopefully an evening at Cades cove looking for bears.

Guess this 11+ inch blade Jason Knight Elemental qualifies considering I won it for donating money to Knife Rights. https://kniferights.org/ultimatesteel/2022-ultimate-steel/#

Congrats! I wondered what you were going to pick this year!

I really have a hard time deciding whether I like a 7 or 8 better. 6 is a little small for my XXL hands.
I liked the 7 but it was just a bit long for some jobs and felt a little large in my pocket so I decided to drop down a size. Now closer to my old timer and uncle Henry pocket knives.

This one too replaces a #7 I seem to have misplaced. This a #6.View attachment 1099615

It's weird to see your Opinel so shiny as mine has been dull for years now.

I absolutely love my number 6. I got it about 4 years ago and it's now the only pocket knife I own. Goes pretty much everywhere and does pretty much everything.

My favorite thing about an Opinel is how thin the blade is. Every other pocket knife I see seems like a prybar now. The barrel lock is an excellent feature, as well.

A little tip for anyone who has a hard time with the wood swelling and pinching the blade when wet. Dip the end into a melted tealight candle. That waterproofs it very, very well. It's been over a year since I last did it and I can still leave the thing in the sink overnight without it binding. I assume you could also use beeswax if you were concerned about the wax being food grade.

My only complaint is that it is a bit soft for my liking. I've wondered if I could somehow harden the blade without damaging or destroying it. If hardening this one isn't feasible I've considered swapping it out for a stainless number 6 as I've read that they are a fair bit harder.

Hard to believe that no one makes an aftermarket carbon fiber handle for them.

It's only held on by 1 pin.
