Burned smokeless. That's the smell of a range. Add wildflowers and it's an outdoor range.

I voted Hoppe's #9, nuthin' else like it. When I clean my guns, the odor permeates my entire appt for a few hours, I love the smell.

Nothing smells as good as burnt powder, especialy from a .22lr.

Please forgive me for double-hitting this one but I just remembered a question posed to the Astronauts who walked on the moon..."What does the moon smell like?"
All the Astronauts were Military and had been around things that go BOOM!...and to a man they all said it smelled like burnt powder!
Pick up a shotgun shell that has just left your ejection port, smell it, and experience what the closest heavenly body smells like! Great smell!

Rembrandt AND JoeG52 beat me to it - a fired paper shotgun shell. I would like to add though, that's it's best on a cold, crisp day while hunting.

My favorite smell is that of rotten putrid flesh of a dead animal that I've shot that was so far away...how far do you ask?....so far that it rotted before I could run over there! How's that fer a long range shot, and oh..did I mention that it was at night?

However, I voted other , cuz the one smell I like best is in the fall when it smells like Hunting season!!

Voted Break-Free... here's why.
A few months back I had been doing a spot clean on one of my guns. Can’t remember which now. Anywho, I dumped the Break-Free CLP soaked patches in the bathroom trash.
Fast forward to the next morning. I was dog ill with something clawing to get out of my stomach in any direction it could. I was firmly ensconced on the throne, in NO CONDITION TO MOVE, when whatever demon was trying to rip me apart started a second front and was running for my throat.
I started to do the reverse peristalsis mambo while seated and realized the last thing I wanted to do was clean Technicolor yawn from the tile. I grabbed the trash can not caring that there was anything in it. I held it right under my face and prepared to let the devil free when the odor of B-F CLP hit me.
The demon was caught short! His violent wrath was quelled. I took another few deep breaths and to my very great surprise, I was HEALED! AMEN! My stomach was no longer upset. All offensive (and I do mean OFFENSIVE!) actions stopped on both fronts. The demons had all been exorcized!

I personally like the smell of freshly fire shotgun shells. And the squeak of REAL leather. A real metal gun in a real leather holster. Kinda happy stuff for me. Seems like here in my middle age, takes less now to make me happy.

The old canvas. Not really a 'gun' smell in fact, but nothing beats it.
Did ya ever have an old shelter half as a kid, sleep under one at Ft. Benning (in 1990! Amazed that something so old was still in your TA-50), sit in the back of the wet deuce and a half, and still sniff every time you open your garage, just to make sure--I don't want my kids to miss that smell!

And to think, all these years, I thought I was weird because the smell of Hoppe's #9 made me feel all warm inside ... But they're all good ... the smell of burnt powder and the aroma of new gunleather ...
For some reason, the scent of Break-Free reminds me of Staff Sergeant Wilson. Hence, not one of my favorite gun-related smells ... Although, all those push-ups paid off in the long run ...
