What made you choose your last handgun??

This was in the days I had a little extra money and I forgot (I NEVER forget my CCW...just that one time anyway) my CC gun on a long road trip with my youngest daughter. I stopped at a gun shop looking for a Glock .40 cal to buy and also a .357 Sig barrel to put in it. They only had a couple of .40s and I didn't like either of them. No Sig barrel in stock either. I bought a Glock 26 9x19mm and a box of +Ps for the road and have no regrets.

I like Tokarevs, they fit my small hand and with a barrel change can fire many different rounds(7.62x25, 9x19, 9x23 Winchester, 38 Super, 9mm Largo). However, I hate the safeties I have found on most of them. Then I saw pictures of the Yugo M57 Toks being imported. The safety works just like a 1911! And they hold one more round than a regular Tok!

I bought two.

Glock 21SF

Reasons: I don't have the time, money, or inclination to shoot it much... let alone break/wear it in. I know I don't have the enthusiasm to clean it much. I just want it to do what it's supposed to when it counts and to not rust away in the interim. Maybe I unwittingly drank some KoolAid somewhere along the way, but I like my decision.

I haven't bought a handgun in a long time - I've bought nothing but longguns and ammo.

When I did, I bought:

6" S&W 686 - because until then I didn't have a single wheelgun

Para-Ordnance Tac-Four: LDA trigger, commander length, all-stainless steel construction (it adds handy weight to control the flip from 13+1 rds of 165gr Hydra Shoks - and oh yeah - capacity)

because it held 10 .45 acp rounds in the mag in a pistol that will fit in my pocket. Plus it has a lifetime warranty and the best grip i've ever seen on any handgun. And of course it wasn't a glock even though i thought about buying one. I can't think why now. It also has an actual thumb safety and it's sa. It's stainless on top and plastic on the bottom which is a good combo imo. And because it was half the price of a glock and held twice as many rounds as a glock the same size. Oh and it wasn't a glock. Hear that glock fanboys. I bought it because it wasn't a glock.

we are the glock collective.

Resistance is futile.

You will be assimilated!!!

Friend of mine called me yesterday. He knew i was shooting regularily again after years. Offered me a 5 year old, never shot, NIB, Buckmark 5.5 Standard pistol for $150.00. Can't refuse a deal like that! SOLD:D Now i got 2.

My last purchase (when we still could in the UK) was a Webley Mk IV .38 service pistol. Pretty much identical to this:

I'd bought it strictly for the historical / novelty factor at the time. Basil Rathbone always carried one in his pocket when playing in those old RKO Sherlock Holmes movies. It was so ... British. I loved it.

Ironically I'd bought it (unused and still in the box) from a batch the police were selling off for £50 a pop. When the ban came in back in '97 the Government compensation payment was £450. Wish I'd bought a bunch of them!

I wanted a Kimber CDP in commander length, I loved how she looked. I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea of an aluminum frame. Saw too many reviews of people complaining about frame wear. I've always preferred hard cold steel anyways. I considered making a custom build and I found Fusion Firearms offering exactly what I wanted with forged frames and slides, at a very reasonable price. The reviews were stellar, so I took the plunge! Have been very happy with my purchase!

Well my primary weapon is a Sig P229. I love the .40S&W caliber. So when I wanted a smaller ccw, I bought the Kahr PM-40. This little guy is a brute and I intend to get it mag-na-ported. Then, on a whim I purchased a SIG 230 in .380 auto. All I can say, is if I want smallest ccw, I'll carry the 230 and normally I'll carry the PM-40. I love good quality firearms :)

My last several pistol purchases were made due to the needs of USPSA divisions. My latest is a custom built Open STI with a Caspian slide. $2800 used.:what:

Re RDF

The Sig P230 is an outstanding gun. I have one in stainless that has given good service for over a decade now. As it's the only 380 I've got, I considered selling it last summer to free up some more cash for the purchasing spree I went on just before the buying frenzy really kicked off. Handling it just the other day, I realized how much I'd have regretted letting it go.

It has been a while. If I recall correctly, my last handgun purchase was a 4" S&W 586. Reason? It was affordable, and I wanted to replace a 4" 686 I had to sell a year earlier to pay some bills.

Is this supposed to be a poll? I wanted a quality .22 auto, went to a gun show looking for one. I found a used, but 100 percent Ruger Mk2 with 2x BSA scope and mount for $275 and the guy sent me the original rear sight in the mail just in case I didn't like the scope.

I kept the scope on it and couldn't be happier.

I suppose my latest purchase was an overreaction to the previous purchase - a nice '67 4" blue Python. Like I needed another Python.

So what'd I get? A black FNP-45 USG that came with 1 15-rd mag and 2 14-rd mags. Why'd I get it? I dunno. It's a big gun and holds a lot of .45? The one I tried had the flat backstrap installed, but here's a pic.

My last was a seecamp 32. sold off all my kt's .Decided i needed the feel of steel. You only go around once in life.;)

Found a XD-40 4" at a pawn shop. The finish on the slide was pretty worn from where it sat in a Uncle Mike's holster (included with the gun), but the frame and internals - loading ramp, barrel, etc. - looked good and very clean. I think it may have been a former duty weapon.

Price was too good to turn down, just over $300, so it came home with me.

Went looking for another Ruger mkIII, since MrsBFD and I are tired of arguing over the one we have, and would rather share magazines/parts than get yet another platform to learn.

So we bought a Taurus PT111 millennium pro in 9mm. I'm not sure how that worked, either it was the confusion between the "111" and "III" or the fact that MrsBFD has been looking for one a PT111 for months, and the shop owner pulled out a few 9mm rounds and took us to his testfiring range for her to try it out.

bought a blued 6" Ruger GP100 (.357 mag) to replace a used stainless 6" Ruger GP100 that I foolishly traded to acquire a stainless 6.5" Smith & Wesson 629 PowerPort (.44 mag)

I like the .44 mag/.44 spl, but I like the .357 mag/.38 spl more

My last purchase was a Ruger New Vaquero .357 Magnum with a 5½" barrel.
I'm not into cowboy shooting, but I wanted a single action (too many John Wayne westerns, I guess).
This revolver was on consignment for a very good price.

My latest purchase was a Ruger LCP, but it's not in yet. This fits my vest pocket very nicely with few sharp edges to abrade clothing. I'm really looking forward to it coming in.

I wanted a 1911. Looked at a few (Springfield, Kimber, etc.), then picked up a Colt Mark IV/Series 70 and couldn't put it down.

If it's not a Colt, it's a copy.

:)

It looks just like all the other ones I have, so my wife has trouble keeping track. :)
