What makes a Hi Point Ugly?

Regardless of how well they function (or not .. or whatever ) They look (IMHO) like a martian power tool . I'm not bashing the performance or anything to that effect , just stating that it looks like something E.T. would be using to fix his ship lol

The Hi-Point isn't beautiful to me, but you'd be surprised what some folks think is attractive... Other guns, some highly regarded, have a similar appearance.
How many have complained about the XDm?

You know, as clunky as the XD or Glock may seem to be in comparison to say a 1911, they're still lightyears beyond a hi point in appearance. Everything about the hi point screams "I could have made this in my garage." The fit and finish and materials are just so completely different you really can't put them in the same class. Also the XD (for me anyways) feels very comfortable in my hand and that certainly has not been true for any hi points I've held. There's a certain utilitarian, rugged elegance to a Glock or XD. They're entirely practical guns and there's something appealing about that (it won't win any beauty contest over a 1911 but you do become attached to it).

The hi point does not have this same appeal. It just looks wrong, as if it were drawn by a 6 year old who knew roughly what a gun looks like but lacked fine motor skills. Mgmorden's quick knock up shows how only a few small tweaks would make it a much more appealing firearm, but it was not to be...instead it's just lacking in every category in terms of appearance. That's not to demean them in functionality (I have never owned one and so I can't speak to reliability but many seem happy with them). That said, I don't think anyone would call them pretty.

Aspect needs to be a bit more turned on the XD for direct apples-to-apples. I don't like the current trend in polymer pistols to mimic running shoe design aesthetic, personally, but that XD still looks better, to me. Having said that, both the XD and Glock can be sold at a profit for less than $300 when cost of materials and production are considered. Name does add to cost, though.
