Here's the situation. I have been looking at a Marlin 1894 in .44 and the 336 in 30-30. I have a Winchester 94 30-30 top eject and a 3 screw ruger Super Blackhawk .44. I usually hunt (deer/hog) with a Kimber .308 and the Ruger. I like the Henry 30-30's but 8 lbs is out of the question. The farthest I would be shooting is 200 yards. I like the fact that the 336 can be scoped but I am not a fan of the pistol grip stock. So should I get the 1894 and just limit my range and stock up on .44 ammo? Keep the Win and just use irons? Buy both and scope the 336? Get a "jump back get back" Marlin express in one of the various calibers? Or just hope the voices in my head leave me alone and stick with what I have? Thoughts and counseling appreciated.:banghead:

I have the 94 in 44 Mag. It is a nice, accurate little rifle. With the Hornady Leverevolution (or however you spell it), you will be able to get a bit more range. You can scope it (but I have an aperature sight on mine). A good red dot sight (e.g. Burris FastFire) would be a good match if you eyesight is not up for iron sights. The one downside: Mine has the microgroove rifling and does not like cast bullets at all. I have to use jacketed bullets for everything.

I intend to get a 336 as some point, but can't decide between a 30-30 or 35 Rem.
