Was looking at a semi when the sales guy knowing what I had suggested a S&W 586 wheel gun. Had not shot any wheel gun before. When we completed the transaction he gave me 2 boxes of .38 spl, 2 boxes of .357 ammo, cleaning kit, carry case and I was out the door. :) This is how it is currently.

The first hand gun I fired was a Colt .45 when I was in the Army and the first revolver I bought was a S&W model 10 heavy 4in barrel that my new employer required me to carry. They bought the revolvers in massive quantities and sold them to us for $54.00. The following day we went to the range and fired them for the first time. When we graduated from the academy we were allowed to purchase the 2" Smith for $52.00.
Still have the 2" for the last 47 years and have added a few more revolvers in those later years.

Don't recal the first one I shot, probably a 22 of some type. first revolver bought was/is a S&W 19 with a 4" barrel. A great gun, but at the time too much for me and my lack of training. So then I bought a 22 and learned how to shoot. Still have the 19, but its retired.

Not long after I got my C&R license, I ordered myself an M1895 Nagant revolver from AIM Surplus. I think they were $89.95 at the time. What arrived was a 1944 Izhevsk product that was in mint condition, probably never fired after being refurbished and stored away for World War Three. Took it to the range and had a blast. Sure, the trigger is terrible, but I didn't know that at the time - it wasn't just my first revolver but my first handgun. I still like shooting the thing.

First shot was a few rounds from a Ruger Blackhawk in Vietnam with GI 130 fmj loads. First purchased was a 2" Model 10 in Vietnam. Sold it before leaving as I couldn't take it out of the country.

First revolver I bought in the states was a 4" Model 10. Next revolver was a 2" Model 64.

I still have a thing for Model 10 style revolvers.

1st shot:S&W M36 3" .38
1st bought:S&W M28 6" .357

Currently own: M34 snubbie .22lr, M637 Airweight snubbie .38, and a 686+ Pro 5" .357

The first revolver I ever shot was a SAA type revolver either in .22 rimfire or converted to .22 rimfire. I'm not sure if it was .22LR or shorts, it was loaded for me. It was at a county fair at a booth you could try to shoot out candles like they did in the movies. This was in the late 60s or very early 70s. I clearly remember shooting out 5 of the 6 flames.

The first revolver I bought was a M686-2 and I still own it.

The first one I ever fired was a Colt Frontier Buntline Special in 22 magnum. My parents bought it for me back in the late 1950s during the Wyatt Earp TV series. I don’t think I had more than a few hundred round through it before it had a bulge in the barrel. I still have it, but now it only has a 4.5” barrel.

The first revolver I bought for myself was a S&W model 27-2 with a 6” barrel about 1962. I still have it too.

I think a range rental S&W 686 was the first one I ever shot.

A Russian Nagant was my first Revolver purchase IIRC.

First revolver shot: Taurus 850
First revolver bought: Taurus 850
First revolver sold: Taurus 850

First shot- An Uberti 1860 cap and ball. Also my first handgun.

First modern handgun- A Smith model 15.

Last revolver puchased- A Smith model 627.

First shot was either a Colt Detective Special or a Smith Snub, I was 14 and shooting on my high school rifle team in NYC and our range was the Armory on Park Ave, which was the NYPD detective's training range during the day. The instructor detectives would offer to let us shoot their snubs. I grabbed the opportunity. First bought was a Colt Python Ser # 6306 in 1959 as a young GI right out of basic training.

I come from city folk of immigrant roots with no shooting heritage.

Therefore, first revolver and first handgun bought, circa 1973, was a Ruger Blackhawk 7 1/2 .45LC.

And after I bought it, I shot it.

Charter Arms 44 magnum with a 4" barrel was the first I ever shot, bought a new .357 Colt King Cobra in bright stainless for just under $400 for my first handgun.

First shot was a S&W K22 in June 1956. I was hooked.

First bought was a H&R 922. Main spring broke so I sold it for the same price I bought it.

First one shot was my fathers Astra .38 Special with a 6'' barrel. My first revolver was my first handgun also. It was a Astra Cadix .22, 4'' 9 shot. I loved it and even had a scope fitted for a while

first shot and first purchased were the same gun, a smith and wesson model 10 at 36 years old. i've since made up for lost time.

I started a little lower down the food chain than most of you did with the Smiths and Colts.
In 1983 as a sophomore in college I hiked down to the local Harts department store and plunked down $125 for a H&R 686 .22/.22mag.
Shot it that day at an old run down farm, first time shooting a handgun.
It's still around. Carried it whenever I used to make hay, it's shot a lot of woodchucks over the years

First shot was a top-break .22 owned by a friend's family. I was a kid, and have no idea what it was.

First I purchased was a Ruger Super Redhawk to use for hunting. I've become a fan of Ruger revolvers since.

First was a Smith and Wesson's Model 37 airweight Chief's Special.

The one I bought first was a Ruger's GP100 .357 magnum of stainless steel and 6" inch of barrel.

My first was a High Standard 9 shot revolver my Dad bought around 1966. I was 5 years old and he let me shoot it (with a little help) after he shot a full cylinder. I carried that pistol with me every time I went squirrel hunting, which was often, and took many squirrels with it when they were too close for the shotgun. I used it until I could legally buy my own pistol, a single six. When my Dad passed away 17 years ago, I gave the High Standard to a cousin Dad taught to shoot. Great memories.

The first firearm I shot was my father's 1955 pre-Model 10 nickel plated .38 Special. It was 1958 and I was 10. I kept bugging him to go shooting but we never did so one day I crawled up on a chair, got it, loaded it and went out in the woods with tin cans. No harm came of it until my dad found a dirty gun. Let's say he wasn't happy!

In 1976 I bought my first revolver, a new S&W Model 19 and still have it today. What a wonderful gun!

Both were the same revolver. Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 with a 4" barrel. Purchased new in 1980. Last of the pinned and recessed Smith .357s, I believe.

Come to think of it, that's also the last revolver I ever shot. Until the next time, of course.
