What was your first handgun?

The first handgun I bought myself:
A Ruger speed six, one of the ones with the 'made in the 200th year of our liberty' stamped on it.
Yup, still got it, but don't shoot it anymore. I actually traded a couple firearms recently and pulled it out and looked at it- to remind me that it is one that I never plan on getting rid of.

Got my first at 18, a Taurus PT-99. At 21 I traded it for a Glock 20. Both long gone, occasionally miss the G20. None of my relatives seem to know what handguns are for, but I did give my little brother a H&K USP40 for his 21st birthday. Which he seems to keep unloaded, and shoots it maybe once a year. :banghead:

Man!!! This thread is just going on and on isn't it. Okay, I'll finally chime in. My first handgun was a snub nosed top break H&R .38S&W caliber (.38 short). I don't remember the model number. Great shooting gun - well made - tough as all get out - I think I paid about $70 for it new. Ending up selling it since I couldn't find ammo for it (mid 1970's).

It was replaced by a Ruger .22 auto I still have to this day. A "Liberty" model I think I paid about $80 for. Thousands and thousands of rounds latter - I'm happy to report that .22LR is still available in abundance - and at fast food hamburger prices. Since it only shows minor cosmetic wear - I expect it will be around long after I have shed this mortal vessel.

No one asked about the first firearm. I'll volunteer that mine was a .22 Mossberg New Haven bolt action rifle. Had it to the range a couple of weeks ago, and it shoots as good as new. Even had a fellow stop and comment about what a good looking firearm it was. Now that one is aging MUCH better than I.
