What would you do?

Your friend does have one very effective recourse. As previously stated, he should contact the BG's parole officer, and file attempted murder charges. I have to ask myself why he has not.
As I mention in the first post he has filed charges (which is why the BG is likely after him). In Howard County you state the facts, you can ask them to file specific charges, but I don't think what the actual charges are is your choice- it the the court commissioner for lower level charges and the prosecutor for more serious charges. I haven't talked to my friend since Sunday (he is in deep hiding and has shut down his phone so I have to wait for him to call me on a borrowed cell phone) but he was scheduled to meet with the prosecutor this week and the possibility of attempted murder charges were one of the subjects on the table (through the commissioner only assault charges were filed initially). As for the parole officer- I was only posting what was specifically pertinent to my question, but I know he had planned to talk to the PO (I don't know if it was going to be on the phone or in person, but it sounded like he was talking about actually meeting with the parole officer).

Werewolf and YSR racer need warning

My brother is a retired Superior Court Judge; I asked his opinion on this thread. "First of all, the two guys "attacking" Chaim are on thin ice: lack of evidence, ...assasination of character. Chaim seems to have a very solid presence on this forum and is not known to be a liar. As the two "attackers" seem to be ratcheting-up their personal attacks, I would have them removed from my court as "rabble-rousers" with no evidence and questionable reason or motivation to discredit this, heretofore, well accepted member."

No BS:evil:

Who would have thought that Political Correctness would rear it's ugly head in a place like this. It seems that logic and freedom of thought have no place here only blind loyalty to a long time thread member without regard to the efficacy of statements that member has made.

Go back and read my post. I don't attack Chaim I attack his claims rationally and logicaly. No one has attempted to refute my arguments yet with an alternate rationale of their own. I can only assume that that no rebuttal means I hit the nail on the head.

So far the only counter arguments are along the line of Chaim's been here a long time and has never been know to lie before.

Well all I've got to say to that is I can remember a guy that had a world presence for 8 years and that didn't keep him from putting a cigar where it didn't belong and lying about it later.

FWIW I don't believe Chaim lied nor did I ever say he did - I'm not even sure he was just trolling (though I still consider that a possibility - hell we've all done it a few times - if not here then on other forums - like maybe the democratic underground). Most likely as others have pointed out in this case he just let loyalty to a friend override his brain and he was sucked in to a situation and felt the need to talk about it with guys he knew and trusted. Nothing wrong with that. But if you're gonna make claims or tell tales that don't make sense - expect to get called on it.

I don't know about you, but the way I was raised I was taught that attacking a person's honesty is a personal attack.

Really, no one is refuting your arguements?! I redirect you to part of the second to last post of mine on the prior page (quoted word for word):

I would agree that it was odd that the police wouldn't arrest the guy. That is why my friend has filed a complaint against the officers who responded. Your claim that police would have arrested the guy and since they didn't I must be lying...Haven't you run across people in your life who were shirkers, who took the easy way and were just plain lazy? If not I guess you have never managed other people and you have never dealt much with people in customer service type jobs. Do you think police are immune to laziness? You really believe that police always do their job and never ignore policies, proceedures or common sense? If so, I'm sorry you are that nieve.

As for some of your points, well, I only posted what I considered relevant to my question and situation. Why did they stick around? I'm not a mindreader but I have been told that the BG and his buddies started going after anyone who came within reach after my friend went unconscious. As for it not being possible to black out after being strangled, I call BS on that. If deprived of oxygen long enough it certainly can take a few minutes before you come to (and it did in this situation). There is a difference between a choker hold and strangling, and my friend was strangled (he had buises on his neck and his neck still hurts)

So far the only counter arguments are along the line of Chaim's been here a long time and has never been know to lie before.

I'm not sure why you can't understand this but this is pertinent in two ways:
1) If someone has been around they have a history. You can look over my history to see if I have a history of honesty or "trolling" and other dishonest behavior. Look over my history here and you'll see what you are accusing me of would be highly out of character. If after over 1300 posts I don't have a history of dishonest behavior why would I start now?
2) If someone has an established reputation why would they risk it for some stupid game of lying to impress or start some controversy?

FWIW I don't believe Chaim lied nor did I ever say he did...
Maybe you don't now, but you said that I fictionalized the story and that I was trolling, later you said "I stand by my analysis of Chaim's story. Too much of what he says just doesn't ring true. The story is in my opinion a TROLL." and even in this post where you say you never said I lied you again say that my post may be trolling. Calling someone a troll and my post "fictionalized" and "fantasy", what does that mean to imply if not lying and dishonesty? That is pretty much the exact meaning of what you said.

Also, for those (including Werewolf) who simply doubt my friend's honesty, he is known to be a hothead but not generally dishonest. However, it is possible that once the situation started he did more to make it worse than stated. So I checked with one of the witnesses I know (I called the bar owner, his former boss). The reaction to the story, "that is pretty much what happened".

Unusual yes. Impossible, no. Fiction, certainly not!

Chaim, I hope things work out well for you and your friend. You've gotten a lot of pretty good advice here, and I think the posts have pretty well covered all the bases. If there are any new developments, feel free to start a new thread.

Meanwhile, I'm closing this one because of the declining level of civility.
