In JMs example velocity is constant.
You can't use velocity to boost energy when your limited by the sound barrier.

Hard to believe it took almost an entire month to get a shot at a hog. The game radios finally went off while we were awake this past weekend and it was my turn as shooter.
Using the 250 gn Winchester bullets that seemed to me to be a heavy equivalent of a 35 grain v-max, I got one.
I was shotgun in the mule and they were about 250 yards short of where we thought they were going to be, so I had to make a quick shot, from a moving vehicle, before they made in into the briars. One shot ruined both hind quarters but he wasn’t running anywhere after it. My buddy already bought a BCG and optic, eager to call it his own. It was fun while it lasted, shortest hunting trip, I’ve ever been on, about 7 minutes from beep to bang.
