So I was having lunch with the in-laws the other day and somehow the topic of guns came up (go figure) and my Father in law asked if I had ever been to a gun show here locally. "Nope." I've always wanted to go but every time they come around, I just happen to be broke that week. So he said "Well tell ya what, how about I give you the money to get in next time they come around?" ... 'Well that'd be great but I still don't have money to buy anything, that's why I would go to a gun show, to take advantage of the smokin deals they have there." .... " Well what if I were to give you the money to get in and $100, would you go then?"
Well heck yea!
So, long thread short, what's the best $100 you ever spent on this sport/hobby/life/addiction? I can think of plenty of things I'd like to buy, but I'd like to know your thoughts....what has been the best $100 you ever spent? Anything from $89.99 to $109.99 that has some sort of connection to our love of guns.

Thanks for your input!
Matt

My BEST $100 was probably my Swiss K-31 or my Swedish Mauser (that was a steal!) However, I feel I did extremely well with the CZ-52 and Mosin 91/30 for about the same. I'm also just tickled with my Romanian M69 trainer, which was about a hundred with dealer xfer. Those were all within the last year or two.

However, those were mostly online deals, and I've rarely seen deals as good at gun shows. But the gunshows around here are small and ridiculous. At worst, you should be able to find a Turkish Mauser and some ammo for a hundred bucks.

Marlin Model 60 semi-auto

More Model 60's produced than any other civilian firearm. New at Wally World or such they usually sell for between $95 and $125.

Far more accurate than they have any right to be. Simmons .22 Mag scope sells for around $25 with rings for a .22.

They don't have all the toys and "looks-like-a-real-assault-rifle" goodies the Ruger 10/22 have available, but you'll be accurate right out of the box with iron sights.

Gun shows and gun shops almost always have one or two Model 60 "closet queens" sitting on the rack with a few stock dings and perfect muzzles. Used you can find them, with a little negotiation, for $60 to up to $90 in perfect condition and use the rest of your C-note to buy a brick or two of ammo.

The older ones hold 17 rounds, new ones hold 14.

Your grandchildren will learn to shoot with it.

Best $100 I ever spent was exactly $100 for a pristine HK PSG1 with matching accessories and case. It was from an estate sale, and the elderly woman hated guns and wanted it gone. I explained to her that it was worth SIGNIFICANTLY more than $100, to which she replied by yelling to the crowd "Anybody want a damn rifle for $50!??"

I said, "Sold" and handed her five $20's.

Some people. :)

My best $100 purchase would be my first handgun. It was a used Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm convertable2 I got from a co-worker whom I did not really know. I was so amazed at the low price I had the police run the serial # just to make sure it was not hot.

There's a few, but probably the Mak in .380 with a 12 round mag I got for $100 at a gun show. Also got a Russian SKS for that at another gunshow.

At todays gunshows, however, you might get some ammo but that's about it unless you can find a .22 like the Marlin 60. I bought one long ago for way under $100 but don't know what they go for today.

Nope, was a real life, no dream event.

She had it marked $100, and I waved her over and tried to tell her it was worth a lot more, but she was really pissy and yelled about anybody want a rifle for $50!?!?

So, what is a guy to do :)

I tried to be the good guy and tell her it was worth thousands, not hundreds... but she wouldn't listen.

Semper Fidelis!

It's hard to come up with just one item I really liked that was bought for $100 or less.

Here are a few items that come to mind:

Ishtapore (sp) Enfield in .308 Win that I got for $99 iirc.

An old "beater" Mauser 98 for about $80.

A Ruger 10/22 for $110 but that was a long time ago. If you can find a 10/22 for less than that I'd jump on it.

But one of the most fun and inexpensive things I ever got was a new in wrapper short blow gun with darts for a whopping $5. - I now own a few more :)

Regards,

Rob

I bought a new Ruger Blackhawk (old 3-screw model) in .357 Mag for just under $100 out the door-a LONG time ago! I still have it and it has been well used. Still as mechanically sound as the day I bought it. T'was my first 'big bore' handgun and has taken a lot of game and provided a WORLD of fun. Lotsa memories!

I got my Yugoslovian SKS for 90 bucks at Modells Sporting Goods. Best 90 bucks I ever spent. In fact, I'm at the point where I've shot more ammo in it than the gun is worth.

C&R FFL. I wasn't even a third of the C note. Got more than one rifle with the difference :)

Son-uv-a... Think I'm gonna be ill!

Perfectly expressed what is currently running through my mind.

Good buy by the way.

I'll have to go with $110. I did not buy it but it was with my money and it was
for me.... my Stevens Savage SXS 20. It has served me well, thanks dad.

last week, a little over 100.00. 135.00 for pattern 14 remington eddystone, good condition.

$99.00 for a Sears-Roebuck, (made by Mossburg) 12 ga. pump, with a 28" mod choke barrel, and a 24" rifle sight smoothbord slug barrel.

The gun had been fired twice and returned to the store.

Private Training.

Back when a gallon of gas was somewhere between .39 and .49 a gallon, I forget the exact price of gas, I will never forget the private lessons/ training, still use and still practice them.
