The oldest gun I own is an Ortgies .25 ACP pocket pistol manufactured circa 1928. My grandfather's uncle carried it as a civilian patrolman in Germany during WWII. When my grandfather was stationed over there in 1955, he brought it back. He gave it to me this summer.

I restored it (ie fixed the grips and cleaned it) and am giving it back to my grandfather for Christmas in a display case, along with some old ammo and some framed photos of long-dead family members.

Oldest?

Hi Sonny,
My Dad gave me a "92" Winchester carbine that was manufactured in 1898 that my great grandfather bought when he worked in South Dakota.

Now my Dad has a Colt "Walker" revolver that was given to my 3rd great grandfather by General Sherman during the War of Succession. That weapon is in a glass case above the fireplace. God have mercy on the person that touches it without gloves on cause Dad won't!

I have a Winchester 1897 12 ga shotgun, 32" full choke take down model made in 1905. I have won a turkey shoot every year with this Winchester and have even taken it skeet shooting a few times.
She has been flawless through several cases of shotgun shells.

1917 Luger. All numbers match. Original magazine with wooden bottom. Given to me by my mother. Belonged to her second husband. Keep saying I'm going to take it out and shoot it, but haven't yet.

I had a '38 Winchester Model 62 that I recently sold. Of the guns I currently shoot, my Mosin-Nagant M91/30 is a 1942 and I have a 1947 Ithaca Model 37 20 gauge.

I recently inherited a collection of old muzzle loaders but I haven't really taken the time to research what any of them are. I don't think any of them are in firing condition.

It's a tossup between the two bottom rifles, both around 1875, one in .380 Long and one in 360 No. 5, the top one is pretty new, about 1905 in .300 Sherwood.

The oldest that I actually use for hunting is my 1891 Mauser, sporterized in the 1950's with some stock carving and a peep sight.

I have a 1947 Remington .270 pump action (perfect condition). I got it as a gift from my great grandpa, exactly one year to they day before he passed away. Ever since I got that rife it has been my ultamate favorite. It was my first high powered rifle and I plan on passing it on to my daughter when she gets old enough.

I think the oldest gun in my house right now is an 1851 (I think) springfield armory 12-gauge, with a tape lock (like percussion, but it uses a roll of paper caps).

Oldest gun in the family armory is, I believe, a Brown Bess musket from about 1760's-- it belongs to my little brother.

Nickel-plated S&W Model 1 1/2 .32 S&W Second Issue with a 3 1/2 inch barrel, single-action. About mid-way between 1878 and 1892. I still shoot it occasionally!

I don't know which gun is oldest but my Remington 700 Mountain Rifle in 7x57 is the oldest caliber.:)
Then the CDL in 35 Whelen and then new kid on the block , the Remington BDL in 300 Win mag

I've got a Spencer brand 10 gauge from the 1860's-'70's. That my uncle left me. My mother gave the Parker 12 to my cousin. My eldest brother got the old doctor's .50 plains rifle (Late 1830's we think)

OK, I see you all and raise you...

1810-1812 Flintlock Cavalry Pistol carried by the Nizam of Hyderabad's 1st Regiment of Calvary (Nizam = king; Hyderabad = lower India east of Bombay, 200 years ago.). Authenticated by Holland and Holland in 1984. Built by East India Company (founded by charter of Elizabeth I in 1600.). I have the flintlock and all its provence. Photos available. (That means I don't have the necessary skills to post 'em.)

I have a number of hammer double shotguns with the oldest ones dating back to the mid 1870's and through the 1880's (others to the turn of the century) including Colt's and E. Remington and Son 12 ga and 10 ga. (I black powder handload and use them all.)
My oldest rifle would be an 1884 Springfield SR Carbine made in the last quarter of 1889. I black powder load for it too (.45/70 of course) and use it on occasion.

I have enjoyed this thread as much as any ever. Fantastic what you fellas own.

Mine is a Marlin model 1884 in 25-20 made in 1904. Barrel is worn from being shot with jacketed bullets but she still shoots just fine. I purchased from a gentleman who bought it used the year he was married which was 60 years prior. Told me about the bear he had killed with it. No telling the hours or days it has spent on horseback in a scabbard. Scabbard in the picture was hand made by his wife.
