Yesterday, I got my new spring from RCBS for my case detector arm, and installed it with little to no problem. However I also ordered two of those little knurled screws 8-32. Anyway, they sent me the 1/4-28X1/2.

I gave them a call back and after being on hold for about 5-10 minutes I get this guy "Shane" on the line and before I had anything to say he says something to the effect "I'm sorry I can't help you, you'll have to call back tomorrow" and hung up on me.

Well, I called back and got in touch with the young lady that put me on hold the first time and explained to her what had just happened. She apologized and asked if I wanted to be put on hold again or have one of their reps give me a call back, I elected to be called back.

Shortly thereafter I received a call from the rep and explained what I needed and he said it would be sent out. I also asked if the company that answered the phone had bought out RCBS to which he replied no that is just our parent company.

Does anyone here have any idea what is going on with RCBS I never in all my years of dealing with RCBS had anyone like Shane answer and hang up on me before I had a chance to say what my business was? Sorry for being so lengthy.

All the old guys have retired or been put out to pasture.
And RCBS is now owned by ATK.

loose noose, I remember that, you had all the heavy hitters helping you, I did not get involved. The last time I was involved with RCBS and Piggy Back 11 presses they offered to convert my PB to PB 11. And then? They said they did not have the conversion parts, so I offered to box up all of my Piggy back 11 parts in an effort to help them help them others. My spare parts included the conversion so I sent the Piggy Back 'back?. They returned my press with the conversion installed. And I ask them to keep the other parts.

POINT? They were running low and or out of parts for old equipment.

Forgot, that gave me two Piggy Back 11 presses.

I am waiting for what seems like rather long to repair or replace my Lock-out die. I called and they said to allow 2-4 weeks after receipt, which has passed. It's too early to get in a dither about it, but I am uncomfortable in my first dealing with them.

Follow up:

The lockout die arrived back, pretty much when they said it would. I noted that it was addressed from Federal Cartridge Company, ATK - Accessories - RCBS, 605 Oro Dam Blvd., Oroville, CA 95965. If that is a new address, then they may have been struggling with a transition in ownership and maybe location.

They did send the spring and the wrong screws within a week, however, I've never been put off by RCBS in this manner by "Shane" what a turkey,

I have gotten GREAT customer service from RCBS over the years, but the last couple of items they sent me free of charge took a little longer to get to me than they used to.

Still GREAT customer service in my book, they have replaced things I broke thru stupidity, things I bought second hand, and things that were technically long out of warranty (tumbler motors).

The last interaction I had was about a month ago with RCBS and it was most disheartening as it took four days to get a return call. And in that time I had already returned the product I had trouble with which I felt was inferior.

Sounds like RCBS had a bad hair day, so to speak. If that happened to me I would chalk it up as a fluke since I also have had GREAT service from them in the past.

As noted lots of companies that have great CS get bought out by a competitor and the results go down hill for a lot of reasons. Winchester for one example. Lets hope that they do stay a stellar company even though they are under the ATK umbrella now. As they say "time will tell".;)

Last 3 months, I've requested: Replacement plastic bushing for the APS Bench Mounted Priming Tool, a softer shellplate spring for the Pro2000, and a new tray for the 510 scale. No issues at all, sent it out right away, only thing slow was the Post Office.
