What's your favorite .40?

My favorite of the several .40s I've owned: CZ75B. One of the best-shooting handguns I've ever owned! Sadly, I don't have it anymore.

Aside: I generally like Smith products, but I just didn't care for the 4006 that I used to have.

I've only got one .40 but it's my preferred carry pistol out of the guns I own. It's been super reliable even after 3000+ rounds. It's my XD40.

Sig Sauer P229.Superbly smooth operation and accuracy.Nice double action trigger and even sweeter single action.Second place would be HK USP Compact.

Of all the 40s I have shot, definitely my M&P40.

I have not shot a heavier Sig. However, I suspect that the Sigs are great to handle and less comfortable to carry daily.

Oh, which to choose! If I had to pick my favorites would be ranked as follows:

1. Sig P229 (love the weight and feel)
2. Glock 27 (daily CCW)
3. Glock 23 (duty weapon)
4. Sig P226 (just to have, love the P226 platform)

New and unfired M&P40. If the M&P 40 is anything like the M&P 9 it will move to number 1 without a doubt.

For range use:
I like the recoil dampening weight of the original .40, a S&W 4006, or
a Sig 226.

For carry:
I like my feature laden and lightweight SW99, and
my Kahr P40 , for extra conceal-ability.

Someone else's!

My Dept went to 4073 S&W's from revolvers. I hate the 40. I have always been a shooter the 40 is someone’s idea of having 45acp power in a hi-cap gun. All my 1911 45acp's shoot better and with less recoil than the .40 S&W.

The S&W's we had did have a problem with the trigger loop breaking disabling the gun. This is neat when you are by yourself on an investigation. S&W did fix the guns when broken, but they should at least last 2-3K rounds which they did not.

I stopped carrying my issue 4073 and went back to my S&W M37 (old issue), I had the option of that being the armorer.
