Bersa Thunder 45

I like and use the Bersa Thunder 45. Why? I do not want to use an expensive handgun for car/carry. My Bersa Thunder 45 is compact, light, accurate, and reliable all at a sale price of $200+10% and sales tax. Regards, Richard :D

I chose "Other" because you did not list one of the best little hand cannons out there. I carry daily, either as a BUG for my 1911's or Primary when I can't carry them, a Taurus PT-145 Millennium Pro. 10+1rounds of .45acp is really hard to beat. I have read in several places where folks don't like the long, rough, trigger pull. Mine was decent right out of the box.....constant shooting has made it buttery smooth after over 3000 rounds have been pushed down it's barrel. Reliability.....I wish all my guns were as reliable!! It is so easy to tear ragged holes in a target at 15 yards it almost looks like you are showing off. I can drop it into the front pocket of just about any pants or shorts and it is all but invisible. I have been carrying it for over 2 years and have never been "made". The only thing that could possibly replace it is if the new XD-45 comes out with the SC version and it is as accurate and reliable as the 4" XD-45 I own. Add an extra mag of 10 rounds and you are ready for just about any situation that would arise.

What is the point of shooting from "within the pocket"?

I find it hard to hit anything with a snubby, just shooting from the hip.

There is no way to draw and shoot faster, (you can have the revolver in-hand, aimed at the ready, as soon as a threat presents itself), and the vast majority of the time the lethal threat is extremely close to one's person, making a solid hit from the pocket easy. Never taking the pistol from the pocket prior to shooting, avoids escalating a "questionable situation" to a gunfight. If your enemy turns out to be just a pushy jerk, and doesn't mean any harm, you won't drive him to defend HIMSELF, by drawing your gun.

By far it has been the Kahr MK9 Elite 98. I could have voted for a 1911, but I prefer the Officers size which is not in the last. The Sig 229/239 are also on the favorite list.

I have both a sig p239 in .357 sig and a taurus pt145 have nat decided which i like better.

Glock 30

It is roughly comparable in size to the G 19. Slightly less in ht & lngth and a little thicker. For me it is a great compromise of size v firepower. I have moved up to the .45 ACP cartridge from the 9mm. I have no problem concealing it IW under a polo or t-shirt. An extra mag in my weak side pocket and I feel I can handle just about anything that a SD handgun is capable of handling.

This is a difficult one

In Michigan, with the weather changes we get, clothes also change. For summer I want something very thin, like a P3AT. The fact of lower power is a lesser issue because people do not wear heavy winter coats in July/August. But, come winter, heavy cooats are the rule. Then, I want a heavy fast bullet. Also, thickness is noonger an issue. So, I have to consider the season. Then, I saw an STI. Basrely 1" thick, and comes in 9mm and .40 S&W. Sounds like and all-seasons possibility.

Here is how their website described one that I like:

LS

What else can be said? These are the slimmest full power handguns on the market today. Only .765" across steel and 1.065" across wood. All 1911 controls including full size grip safety.

Aided by the undercut trigger guard and front strap STIppling, these firearms transfer most of the recoil to the heel of your hand so you get very little muzzle rise when you can least afford it.

Incorporated in this unique, self defense firearm, are STI's Patented trigger assembly and all the 1911 style trigger group parts. (except the mainspring and mainspring housing on the LS)

The LS9 and LS40 sport a 3.4" barrel and abbreviated grip for easy carry and concealment at less than 28 ounces.

End of paste from STI

Now, I would absolutely add hard-chroming to this if I were intent on carrying it year round. Even if stainless were offered, I would chose to chrome it, if for no other reason than durability of the piece by reducing friction.

Had to vote "Other"...I carry the Taurus PT145 in the winter and Kel Tec P38T in the summer.

Revolver in Pocket??

What do you want to do, shoot the BG or light your self on fire? Revolver = Reliable? NOT!! I carried a Colt Trooper MKIII because I had to. Talk about a jam o matic this was the undisputed queen. and carrying in a pocket without any holster or "bag" is not a good idea... ever seen the insides of your "reliable" revolver? More little tiny parts and close tolerances than a chinese copy of a swiss watch. No thanks, I'll stick to my Taurus PT145, G30/29 and Witness 10mm

Bersa Thunder .380 Concealed Carry

Its very compact, but enough bigger than a P-3AT that it is not unpleasant to take to the range. It is very reliable, reasonably accurate and perfect for front pocket carry.

Currently my favorite is a Sig 239 in .40 S&W. It's compact, stainless, black, DA/SA, has no safeties (other than the trigger) and carries 7 rounds in a single-stack mag. What's not to love?

I'd have said a HK P2000sk but i guess that's considered a sub compact so I went with "other". Soo...I'd say my favorite compact auto would be the P7M8.

Firestorm's Mini-Firestorm in .40S&W. It's the same size as my .380 Bersa Mod85 but packs a lot more punch.

"These are the slimmest full power handguns on the market today. Only .765" across steel and 1.065" across wood."

Seems STI forgot about a couple of contenders when making their claims.

The Kel-Tec P-11 which is only 1" at the widest point (I know it's only .065" less), weighs half as much, not only carries the same 9mm cartridge they refer to as full power but 5 more of them, and costs half the price. When it comes to small and high capacity (12+1) the Kel-tec P-11 is still in a league of its own.

The Kel-Tec PF-9 has the same 7+1 capacity as the STI in a package that is only .88 at its widest, weighs less than half as much, costs half as much, and has an accessory rail.

If I had to choose I think I'd take my money and buy a P-11 AND a PF-9 both in hard chrome and the $50 I'd still have left over from the price of the STI would put me half way to buying an Insight X2 for the PF-9.

Walther PPK/S (.380) in a "SmartCarry" holster or on my hip depending on my clothing that day. Since last Friday... Kel-Tec P3AT in my front right pocket.

I plan to carry the P3AT everyday. Either as a bug or as primary given my clothing.
