This is a difficult one
In Michigan, with the weather changes we get, clothes also change. For summer I want something very thin, like a P3AT. The fact of lower power is a lesser issue because people do not wear heavy winter coats in July/August. But, come winter, heavy cooats are the rule. Then, I want a heavy fast bullet. Also, thickness is noonger an issue. So, I have to consider the season. Then, I saw an STI. Basrely 1" thick, and comes in 9mm and .40 S&W. Sounds like and all-seasons possibility.
Here is how their website described one that I like:

LS
What else can be said? These are the slimmest full power handguns on the market today. Only .765" across steel and 1.065" across wood. All 1911 controls including full size grip safety.
Aided by the undercut trigger guard and front strap STIppling, these firearms transfer most of the recoil to the heel of your hand so you get very little muzzle rise when you can least afford it.
Incorporated in this unique, self defense firearm, are STI's Patented trigger assembly and all the 1911 style trigger group parts. (except the mainspring and mainspring housing on the LS)
The LS9 and LS40 sport a 3.4" barrel and abbreviated grip for easy carry and concealment at less than 28 ounces.

Now, I would absolutely add hard-chroming to this if I were intent on carrying it year round. Even if stainless were offered, I would chose to chrome it, if for no other reason than durability of the piece by reducing friction.
