CZ is sadly missing. Well, chalk up another 'other' as 'CZ'. HK would be my vote if they only made more P7s :p

Since the majority of my handguns are Rugers, I guess that would be my choice.
S&W would be a close second. I'd really like to get my hands on 4506.

Favorite brand? What is this favorite brand that you speak of? I have favorite designs, favorite models and favorite guns, but I have no favorite brands. Branding is misleading. Any "brand" can make a great gun, yet still crank out multiple bad designs, or just go sloppy on a particular model or even the entire line. Heck, I don't even have a favorite country of manufacture!

I feel the same about cars, trucks or motorcycles. Being a long time motorcycle performance enthusiast, my favorite model is whatever is fastest, best handling, and has the most upgrade potential that year. I choose guns the same way. My loyalty is earned through content. If the company continues to create good content, I continue to buy. The instant that they don't, I switch to one who does. An old saying from unsponsored racers: "Brand loyalty is for squids".

I voted Smith & Wesson ;) but

there are certain things I like 'bout others. For example, I don't care much
for the Smith & Wesson .22 LR rimfire autos; much preferring an old Colt,
or a new Browning instead. I'm a SIG-A-HOLIC, for old West German guns
only. Ruger is my favorite for "cowboy style" wheel guns; perferring the
Blackhawks over the Vacqueros. Also, I like the Springfield Armory line,
while I dislike Glocks. Very few Kimbers strike my fancy; as I will take a
Baer .45 over a Kimber anyday~! ;) :D DA revolver vote goes to S&W.
NO Taurus firearms for me, please.

Seecamp.

If Larry Seecamp would just make his dad's .45ACP, I'd have only two handguns in my safe....Seecamp .45 and Seecamp .380.

My favorite is easily Rugers, and my favorite Ruger is the P97. I have carried it exclusively for CCW for several years.

Well, ya all might laugh, but of the handguns I own my favorite is the Star Model 30. It is accurate, 15 round capacity and has never had a stopage of any type. Handles lead and jacketed ammo with ease. Not finely machined nor eye candy by any means. Simply an excellent shooter.

Another S & W vote

I voted S & W because of my experiences with the M & P line (I have a full sized 40 caliber, a 9mm compact and will have the 45 caliber soon), their revolvers are great and with a no B.S. lifetime warranty when rarely needed. :)

What... NO COLT!!!

Why was Colt ommited? You said:

“All things considered (revolvers and autos, rimfires and centerfires, etc.) I'd go with Ruger.”

Out of the 10 companies on your list, only 40% make both pistols and revolvers, and 3 or 4 don’t make 22’s. I’m not nit picking, but Colt makes, or made, all 3. While I don’t necessarily like Colt more that the others in any one category, if I had to pick an overall winner, it would be Colt.

since I'm a fan of wheelguns, I have to go with S&W......altho the old Colts still make me wet.

Overall I chose Smith & Wesson. I really like their revolvers and if I had to I would not mind using one of their semi-autos either. I have shot a model 915 that I thought was pretty nice and the new M&P feels great in my hand. However, as long as I have choice, I prefer Glocks over any other semi-autos.

I have owned Ruger semi-autos and a revolver and even though they were O.K. they were not great by any means and I much prefer other brands.

The poll is not flawed. I asked for the respondent's "Favorite" brand; I did not ask them to name the best. This doesn't require them to have experience with all brands.

And I picked Ruger because they make guns that are equal to or better than other makes at a better price. My Rugers are all 100 percent reliable -- never a malf with any of them that I own. That's a dang good recommendation, IMO.

Springfield: they can make great plastic-fantastic wundernines as well as classic 1911's. They also make a respectable M14-derivative rifle.

Ruger ran a close second as I love their revolvers... but I can't stand their centerfire auto handguns.
