Been thinking about CZs and their clones lately. I've decided that sometimes the clone can be an improvement over the original. Don't get angry, sit a spell and listen.:p

The CZ75 is probably the most cloned of the modern designs. By last count clones were made in England, Switzerland, Turkey, Italy, and Israel. Most were 100% clones or modifications like the Tanfoglios with the slide mounted hammer drop safety. The true clones allowed for cocked and locked and required the hammer to be dropped manually.

Of all clones the only one that significantly improved the CZ75 design was the IMI Jericho 941, known as the Baby Eagle and Uzi Eagle. Blasphemy you say? Consider this:

The Jericho has full length slide rails.

The Jericho's hammer is short but has a pronounced flat area that allows a solid placement of the thumb.

The standard version of the Jericho allows for cocked and locked and locked DA.

The Jerichos I've examined come with a full length steel guide rod and double strand recoil spring. (Not sure of the new Compacts, do they come with a steel guide rod and double strand spring too?)

The accuracy of the Jerichos I've tried is better than that of the CZ75s.

The DA/SA pulls are shorter and smoother.

Sometimes the clone can be better than the original.
;)

PS Can anyone recommend a place to buy a Jericho Compact at a price close to $279 that CDNN was selling them at?
