I think it's funny how the Army will outfit the new soldier with gloves in one size, and yet clothing sales will offer a range of sizes to fit correctly.

Gee, sizes of gloves mean hands come in different sizes. Hands in sizes mean grips in sizes. Big hands, big grips, small hands, small grips. I'm looking for a A1, I prefer it to the A2, like some others, the spur rides my hand at the wrong place.

Stocks come in different lengths too. Some of us even prefer long handguards.

The only time I don't care for the A2 grip is when I'm building my retro rifles then I have to have an A1. Then the debate comes in as to weather it should be green like my 601, plain black like my late 603 or 604 that is in the build stage or mottled like my early 603 that is also just waiting on a lower. On the whole though, I have no problem with the stock pistol grip and see no need to go with the aftermarket designs.

The A2 grips go in the spare parts bin. I use A1 furniture because I am short with small hands.
Building a carbine with all Magpul MOE stuff to see if I can get a light gun that fits well.

I have three Ergos and two Houges. The A2 grips are in a bin somewhere. I might try a Magpul when the rubberized ones are available because I like Magpul stuff. The Ergos are may favorite right now.

Mostly A1 but one has a OG A2 with the finger groove removed to match the CTR and CavArms carbine handguards. I bought a bunch of A1s years used ago for cheap. I have short fingers for my size so the A1 suits, the A2 finger groove is rather uncomfortable as are the ridges on the back.

Never seen the point of replacing the standard AR grips. They work fine for me. I'd rather spend the money on ammo.

Wow, I cant imagine NOT running a Magpul MIAD.

I am surprised people actually keep the A2 grips, but thats cool in its own way.

For me the magpul grip is just so much better. It fills my hand, so when I tilt my rifle to the side for a reload, especially while running its a lot easier to maintain steady control.

Everyone is different. I am not a big fan of the MIAD. It's a good grip, but it's just not comfortable to me, personally. I like the texture of the Suregrip.

I tried several different grips before settling on the Ergo and I still try different grips even though I am not unhappy with what I use currently.

I don't care for the A2 grip, I prefer Magpul MIAD.

I had a couple spare A2 grips that I donated to the dollar bin at my local gun shop not long ago.

Still looking for which of the aftermarket grips has less of an angle than the A2s.

I find myself wanting something closer to straight up and down.

My RRA came with Hogue and I liked it so much I switched out my others. The A2 pinched my fingers and I really didn't notice it until I had shot for a half hour or so. Then it would be really annoying. There's probably something better than Hogue, but it fits me better than the standard.

All of my ar's have the A2 grips except my cav arms lowers. On most of them I have belt sanded the nub off.

I keep my AR as close to milspec as possible, as it's mostly a training weapon for me. There are some mods on it, but only stuff I know I can do with an issue weapon like the stock (not the tube) and rail accessories. Anything that involves pushing out pins and actually changing the hardware of the weapon I won't do, as that stuff is banned on issue weapons.

On my favorite AR, I have a Sierra SPR grip, which is still my favorite for rifles where I don't do a lot of offside shooting. I use the MIAD otherwise. I also have a big discard can of AR grips that didn't work out filled with the Oly stock grip (I call it "the hamhock"), A2 grips, Hogue grips, etc.

thats all i used is the standard grip. I like it and have tried others that other people have on there AR's and like the standard grip. call me crazy but i do.

Doesn't the good ol' Barrett M82 use the same style???:neener:

I tolerated an M16A2 grip till my first carbine class - the finger projection beat my hand up pretty good. Magpul or Tango Down for me...
