I am new to USPSA and have been using a 92 brigadier for production division. I want to switch to 1911 in either single stack. I have been looking mainly at STI.

Spartan, Trojan, Sentinel, Sentinel Premier, Duty One, Apeiro, and the USPSA model. They range from 600-2500. That's a big difference. Or should I just use my Kimber CDP for awhile?

Right now my local club runs this once a month and is $10 for members. There are 6 stages and 2 of them are USPSA classifiers, I am not a USPSA member. This is my first year doing these matches and I really like them and I am currently doing this for fun, maybe next I may get serious about it and travel around. So far I am doing pretty good against the people that come to this match.

My concern with using my Kimber is it is one of my main carry guns, so I am not sure if I want to put that much abuse on it and I don't know if shooting it that much will harm it in the long run. I would probably put 400rds a month thru it between practice and match.

Any info would be helpful
Thanks

I started out shooting my Colt Series 80 in 45 ACP but have now moved to a Springfield RO in 9mm. I have just as much fun shooting minor caliber plus it is much cheaper. If you want to shoot major, try the STI Trojan in 40. I see lots of them at the matches I go to.
Good sights and reliability trump accuracy in this game, IMO.

Oh I do reload for 9mm, 40sw, and 45acp. I think I do want to shoot major power, even tho I am doing it for fun, I still like to get a good score and major power gives you 1 more point for B and C.

^ YUCK is what I think of that gun. (plus no mention of model)

I am also looking at a new gun for SS next year.. (Currently shoot limited)

It's a factory STI with a refinish job? Not worth $2k if so. Maybe if it was a custom build by a reputable builder.

At 400 rounds a month, your Kimber (or any brand name 1911) should last at least about 25 years or so.
Probably lots more.
If it runs now, it will run then, with minor attention.
But if you're looking for an excuse to buy another one,
Yes, you need another one, for sure.
We all do.

Thanks. Always looking for an excuse to buy another one:)

I am running 3 sig sauer 1911 .45acp. I shoot IDPA with them and they are awesome, more accurate than me and the barrels are, well, bulletproof!

be safe

I started with a black nitron basic, upgraded with a wilson combat barrel.

Then got a Stainless Steel, and now use the TTT. It has a combo of both the black nitron and the stainless. Factory match grade barrel. Polished the triggers and a few other spots.

TTT is the way I would go, now that I have used them all.

BUT if you can get a Max Michel for $1200 great! Not available in California.

They all shoot great

be safe.

You're probably fine using your Kimber. You won't wear it out any time soon.

If you do insist on getting a new gun, for the guns you listed, for Single Stack I'd go with the STI Trojan in .40 S&W. .40 S&W is much more economical to shoot regularly and you still get major power factor.

I know at least one of the guns on your list (the Apeiro) isn't a single-stack (but makes a very nice Limited gun).

Anything built on the 2011 pattern or anything with a bull barrel won't be legal.
