Which .40?

Browning, Glock23C and S&W 4046. I was dead on with all of those. Not so much with a 4006.

Glock 22 and 27. Only .40s I have extensive experience with. The USP I shot was nice too but I only put a few rounds through it.

M&P & Glock > Xd

Just my opinion based on experience with all 3. I prefer the m&p personally.

If I wanted a more compact, all metal gun, I'd look at the Springfield EMP40, but it is about $1k.

I like the XD40 a lot, good capacity, great action, pretty good accuracy. I have shot a Glock 22, which felt pretty good in my hand, had good capacity, nice recoil, and very good accuracy...

Both guns are fairly similar to me.

I own an HK USP 40 and a Smith & Wesson Model 4006. For reliability, quality of the build and handling, I prefer the Smith. The HK weighs less and is more accurate but perceived recoil is substantially greater (probably due to the lighter weight; both pistols have a relatively high bore axis).

I own a CZ-40b that I just love to shoot. Last year CDNN had them on sale for $289...what a steal. This thing would be a deal at $500! It shoots as well as my SIGs and looks like a Colt Officer 1911...whats not to like.

A buddy of mine has a Walther P99 in .40. That is a VERY nice pistol that seems to fit most peoples hand like a glove. It is very reliable and accurate. If one likes polymer pistols this is one to check out.

I have only handled, but not shot a FNP-40. The FFL dealer who does my transfers is a gun writer and avid collector of various 1911's. He did a review of the FNP and decided to buy the pistol afterward. He has subsequently added a FNP-45 to his collection as well.

Smith and Wesson SW40VE. I love mine. Inexpensive, reliable, with great ergonomics.

All the Best,
D. White
