Which are the reliable .45 ACP sub-compacts out there?

I have a Bersa UC 45 and a Kimber UC CDP II and both are perfect performers. I would also bet the Kahr PM-45 would be nice. I also have an XD 45 Compact, but I don't consider it to really be "compact"! I had a Springfield Micro that was a pig though.

I second the Taurus Millennium Pro PT145. I have the 2nd generation DAO model and just love it. I know there are Glock haters on here and Tarui haters...those that hate S&W with the lock, etc. Me, I have had perfect reliability out of this 10 + 1 .45 ACP Pocket cannon. I use 160 grain Corbon DPX:

note how it just dwarfs the Glock 19:

When I'm not carrying my GP100...I carry this and think it is the perfect defensive weapon:

Colt Defender

...

I have 900 flawless rounds out mine with some 80 rounds of JHP without any failures, and they are very accurate, point and aim, shooters.

Just keep-em clean, good and WET with oil, mags clean, and you will have no problems..

ParaOrd Slimhawg, its a 3" 1911,conceals nice and I am comfortable with the way it 'handles'.Wife has a Kimber Ultra Carry 2...hooked on both for the .45 ACP.

I myself have a glock 36
It is new to me but I went throught the same delema. But the glock was easy to conceal. And I think it is as accurate as my sig 228 (which I have for 12 years and love).
The m&p is comming out with a compact 45 but no one in newyork seems to have one.
goodluck

One of the sleeper .45's that is often overlooked in the S&W 457.

My Colt Defender went about 1500 rounds before the recoil spring assembly puked on me (easily replaced)... but made me ask myself the question "What if it pukes the one time I really really need it?" :scrutiny:

So I tend to stay with Commander sized .45's and the aforementioned S&W 457.

I've never owned a Taurus firearm as I am willing to pay premium prices for premium firearms. I bought a stainless Taurus PT145 Millpro .45 on a lark and its been 100% reliable, with more accuracy than it should have and reasonable felt recoil.

I second the Smith 457, it is a great gun and here is a pic of one. It is the one on the left. It's baby brother the 908 is on the right.
