The .45ACP, because I have been a fan of big and slow forever, and even if I was pressed to use FMJ it will still hit with authority. and zip right through like some others will.

The one that I can shoot the best. I carried a .45acp in a 3in and a full size both 1911's. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with either but that felt really good in the hand. I shoot a friends XD40 and could shoot it better than my Baer TRS. My wife carried a Glock 22 in 40. So I got an XDM40. I had 5 gallon bucket of brass from the sherriff's dept so knew it would be cheap to reload for both.

So I guess it comes down to what I shoot the best and still has a little power behind it.

"Prefer" .45acp (caliber), carry 9mm (capacity, size and recoil) most of the time. Can't have everything.

I voted .40:

1. The right load gets you really good (96%) 1 shot stops
2. But with more capacity than .45 in a slimmer package (I have smaller hands)

I voted 9MM, but I relaod for both 9MM and .45 ACP. Depends on the day you ask me. I really, really like both, but usually end up carrying a 9MM and keeping a .45 bedside.

10

Somebody has to keep the best auto-pistol cartridge ever designed alive.

9mm is a fine round
.40 S&W is a bit too snappy for my liking
.45 ACP is a fine round, it's what I carry every day
10mm is probably a bit much for CC, but would make a great sidearm in the wilderness

I don't carry .45 ACP because I think "oh its the biggest baddest round ever and will 1 stop any and everything!" I carry it because it is easy to control in my carry guns and I like the slower bullet for less chance of over-penetration. Besides, if I need more than 21 or 15 rounds (depending on what I have on me that day) of .45 ACP, I don't think I'm in a situation that 31 rounds of 9mm will solve. I'd rather have a long gun in my hands at that point

10mm for me as well. I have the hands to carry and shoot it, it's stronger than a .45 (not including super) and they come in my favorite pistol, the 1911.

Love 45 ACP. Easy to reload and cheap when you use cast bullets, only a couple of bucks more that the 9 per thousand. I shoot em light for target and full bore for fun.

.45 ACP. I cant honestly say its my favorite caliber, but the most common in my favorite platform (1911), so I'd be stuck with it if I didn't like it anyway.

A close second would be 9mm, but mainly for plinking purposes, even though its too expensive to consider "plinking ammo" now.

If I ever need nuclear power I buy Buffalo Bore.
lol.

10mm, for all the reasons previously mentioned.

I see at present is stands at 10% in the poll. Wish gun dealers stocked 1 10mm for every 10 auto's in the other calibers.
