It could have launched last year at an MSRP over $4k, but very few people if any would buy at that level. That business model would involve using conventional machine shops that "peck" away the material to make the parts, which is how most short-run machine shops do it these days. In order to "scoop" away the material, so that the gun can be priced under $1k, an enormous amount of investment of engineering time and tooling fabrication must take place.
