I am trying to decide between American Rifleman and America's First Freedom. I understand the differences in content, but wouldn't any imminent threats to the 2A also be included in American Rifleman? Thoughts on the 2?

I currently get American Rifleman, but I have subscribed to both in the past. You will get a little bit of America's First Freedom information (the big points) in American Rifleman too. They are both wonderful magazines.

None

I only buy myself the $10 associate membership with no magazine. By nature any information or alert in one of these publications will be out of date by the time you get it.

Remember this is the internet age baby.

One of my workmates gets American Hunter and I get American Rifleman. We all bring our collective hunting, fishing and trapping mags to work, so there never is a shortage.

I prefer American Rifleman because of the non-political articles.

As has been stated most of the political info in the magazine is out of date.

Is the Armed Citizen column in America's First Freedom? If not, that column alone puts AR over AFF.

I used to get both but switched to American Hunter and First Freedom(FF) . As SquirrelNuts pointed out, the big political content of FF is always present at American Rifleman as well as American Hunter. American Rifleman has also stuff about cool guns, rifles etc. It depends which stuff you care the most. If 2 Amendment is your primary focus, then FF is the magazine. If you are interested in hunting then the Hunter is a good mag, and the Rifleman is more for the shooting sports, collecting, etc. Bear in mind that if you get other gun magazines, the stuff about the guns will be redundant. When new product come out they all write about it. Let's say you get American Handgunner and Combat Handguns, then you might as well get FF since the true gunny stuff will be covered by the former, where the latter will give you a nice emphasis on the RKBA issues.

Is the Armed Citizen column in America's First Freedom?

Absolutely!

As to the political stuff being outdated, that's the case with any written publication that comes once a month. For this blogs and forums is the way to go. However, First Freedom has good scholarly articles on RKBA written by the likes of Kopel which are really good and not necessarily deal with urgent grassroots acitvities.

I'm not really much into hunting so it wasn't really a consideration. I'd like to get into it when I have some time but that's on the back burner at the moment.

My 2 sons and I are all life members, so we each take a different magazine, and get to read all 3.

I'm with Clarence on this one. Three different family members, all of them NRA members, and each gets a different magazine so that we all have access to all three.

Either way these are relatively inexpensive magazines.

I get the AHunter and ARiflrman, there's some overlap in legal issues but I like them both.

You get one, your wife/roommate gets the other, now you have both....

There ya go. "American Rifleman" for me, and "First Freedom" for my Bride of 25 years.

Can they really fill a whole magazine every month just about the 2nd amendment? What do you really find in First Freedom?

It's nuanced.

How's that for PC?

Uhh... ahem... "We intend to move forward proactively in order to initiate the Dawn of a new paradigm by which bonds newly forged in the crucible of understanding will open-wide the doors of opportunity to facilitate the building of a bridge to a fresh spirit of cooperation"...

Do I sound like Hillary Clinton yet ??

I think I'm now qualified to be Secretary of State.

I know you all feel good about this. Thank you for your support.

tee hee hee...
