OK, the SciFi crowd was right and the alien overlords landed this after noon and announced you may keep only one of your currently owned or formerly owned .22LR rifles and they will know and take action otherwise.

Resistance is useless or futile, depending on the alien menace.

Which do you keep? Care to share why?

I will post my own choice after five others so as to not influence the crowd.

A Slim Whittman recording of the Indian love song is also forbidden on pain of extermination.

Hmmm. My first rifle, a Remington 511 purchased in 1962. I am so comfortable with it it is almost a part of me.
Second choice is a 10-22 but the bolt action is more reliable in the long run.

My Ruger 10/22 breakdown model. Simple, clean, accurate package that shoots anything I feed it and is easy to breakdown and clean.

easy: Anschutz 1418; with the right ammo is more accurate than I can be to 100 yards. It currently has a Nikon p22 2-7 scope on it which seems very good for its purpose.

Easy, my Ruger 10/22. Extremely reliable, durable, and accurate; especially with Wolf Match Target and CCI MiniMags.

Yeah, I gotta go 10/22 here as well. I know there's nicer 22s out there, but I don't own them, and I know the Ruger will get it done.

Sorry, ain't nobody, including aliens forcing me to give up my guns. I would gladly give them all the 10/22's on the planet and not shed a tear, though.

Easy - my Henry H001. Partly because of ammo versatility (.22lr, long, short) but mostly because it's the only. 22lr rifle I currently have.

I have several 22 LR's that have great sentimental value but would be nearly useless against a hoard of aliens. Single shot bolt guns that I cherish and rarely shoot so could I keep those?
S&W M&P with suppressor and slide stock.

Before I moved back to the UK I had 4 .22lrs

Brno Mod-1
Browning SA-22
FN Trombone
Winchester 94-22

I'd keep the Brno Mod-1: Light, accurate, easy to shoot well, fast cycling and with changeable mags a hoot to shoot

Is this a single 22lr gun for defense against the aliens or just a question of "If I could only have one 22lr gun what would it be?"

I haven't a clue and I have no shortage of 22 rifles. I have an Anschutz on permanent forever type loan from my sister which had belonged to her husband. Technically not my rifle but certainly a rifle to keep. Next would be either a Remington 511 or 512 I love both of them. The rest they can have. My Remington 510P is sweet but only a single shot so that goes. :) Hell, they can have the Ruger 10/22 and Marlin 60 among the first to go. :)

Now since you said Rifle I get to keep my 22 handguns right? They stay!

My best and the one I'd keep is my CZ 452 American, it is a beauty with nice wood and blueing plus a competition winner. But it would be hard pt part with my custom Ruger, other CZ, dad's old Winchester 74, 540XR.

I built this custom bench gun myself using a CZ 452 action with right handed bolt ( my choice ) with left hand custom stock,( 80 hours in the stock. A 2.6 oz custom Timney trigger, and custom sporter barrel .

We are sad to note the appearance of a 300 meter wide and deep
crater that appeared centered around the location ColtPythonElite posted his response to this thread approximately .3 seconds after he sent his response.......

Just kidding.

They are friendly aliens with no sense of humor that would likely register as Democrats if we let them.......if we had a choice regarding what they choose to do.

Wow I was worried if any one would respond and look where we are in six hours.

No wish I hads! Only what you have or what you foolishly gave, sold, had stolen or lost but actually had!

Interesting the number of 10/22s and Marlin 60s that have shown up already.

Much as I like my semi autos and treasure that first Winchester 67 I would have to claim my Anshutz 1441/42. That's the little flobert action I have posted in the past.

My wife also eshews her autos for Savage-Anshutz 64. They use the same magazine BTW though a different trigger and safety set up and hers is more heavily constructed.
