Which of your rifles gets the most attention at the range?

Hey Beetle.

I'd say your Swede M38 gets noticed more than your Finn M39. :)

For me, it's prolly my Garand. It's....er, unique. ;)

My SA-M7. Most people around here know what an AK is, but they haven't seen or shot one.
I let this girl at the range run a couple mags through it yesterday, and before she got done, half of the people there were gathered 'round.
I guess the combination of an 18 year old girl and the report of the AK was too much to miss.;)

Flintlock. Any of them. Why? Because they're waiting for you to finish loading and firing so they can go downrange to check targets.

A Romak3 or Dragunov........they have that "look".

or any bipod or tripod mounted full auto machine gun.

Not my Garand, folks see lots of them since Saving Private Ryan, not my FAL, lots of folks jumping on that bandwagon, lots of folks seem to have M44s so Mosin carbines don't seem unusual any more. Interestingly, my Finn M-39s seem to draw a lot of attention. Guys will come over and just stare at them. I kind of smile to myself while they try to figure out what the heck they are. Most times I'll get asked "Are those Mausers?" :p

An Evans gets a fair amount of attention, especially when some guy realizes that you are up to round 25 or so.

Since I live in California, my Colt Sporter HBAR Lightweight usually gets the most attention. A lot of new/young shooters never seen or handled an AR before since it's illegal for them to buy one in our 'great' state.

With the serious shooters, my 10/22 actually turns the most heads. The shiny Volquartsen Stainless Steel 20" barrel with compensator tends to catch double takes.

I live to mess with people's minds!

This one gets a few odd looks:

Then folks gravitate to this one:

People love this one:

But the noise of this 6.5-06 brings 'em over for a look-see, too:

As does the concussion from this big-bore with my 405 gr 2000fps loads:

well, this last trip was a Mosin shoot. my M44 got the attention of the 2 shot a year hunter guys, but the 91/30 with the bayo attached got a few guys to come over and look.. most people don't see rifles that are come up to a 6 footers nose. ;-)

sorry for the weird angle and kitty. it's really hard to get high enough to get all of such a long rifle, and Edda is a camera hog..

1874 Sharps repro in 45.70. Especially since I always shoot black powder loaded cartridges. The low frequency boom....the smoke....the smell....the big holes on target....its all good.

Only to your lustful eyes, Garand Boy! ;)

Yeah, someone asked me just last week "Is that a Swedish Mosin Nagant?" when referring to my M-39. Well, there are probably hundreds of guns I don't know about so I just tell them a bit about it and if they seem cool and experienced, I get them shoot a magazine full. If they give me info on my rifle that I don't know, I like to offer them a chance to shoot also ;) .

Range? Whats that?

Heehee, that's where you go to window shop for your next purchase  .

Man, okay I can't respond to everyone here but I did read every single post and thanks for sharing. Did I mention that part two of this game is for everyone who posted to now air mail said firearm to my favorite FFL for transfer to me? :what: :what: :what: Uh, seriously, I want to hear more. So far we have a very good variety (I guess it was an oversight to not ask about handguns and such) and we know it doesn't have to be a collectors item or cost the price of a few house payments. C'mon I want to hear about your pride and joy.

Today my Contender was drawing the most attention, mostly in the form of guys laughing as I shot at the 100yrd range. Funny, after we went down to check targets I didn't hear a single chuckle.:D

Got 2 Martinis that draw attention

The Little Cadet has been very nicely customized into a .22Hornet with a 1" x 22" stainless barrel, a nice set of Fajen stocks fore and aft and a 10X Unertl scope mounted atop the package... Most people under 40 have never seen a combination like this, even tho it was made only a dozen years ago.
The other is a BSA MkII International tricked out for benchrest with a 36X scope, weighs in at about 14lbs and throws empties about 10 feet high and 5 yds out to the right;)

M-1 Garand. People flock to it, especially after "Band of Brothers" and "Saving Private Ryan" came out.
same-same, especially when I'm hitting 12" steel at 400yds offhand while the scoped benchrested wanna-be snipers are having trouble finding the paper.

Sako TRG 42 338 Lapua or my 6.5 PPC AR15 match rifle.

I think my well used Albanian SKS gets the most looks. It has graffiti on the stock and chnks missing on the comb of the stock. Don't let the looks fool you it is the most accurate SKS I own.

A close second is either my M38 Mosin or my CZ 52 due to the muzzle flash/fireball when fired.

Without a doubt, my U.S. Rifle, Cal. 30, M1. Last time I took it to the range an elderly gentleman walked over and told me he carried one in Korea. This, of course, led to a long discussion on topics ranging from firearms development to American foreign policy...

Very few rifles, it seems, have such a magnetic attraction built in to them, and the M1 attracts the right kind of people. My M1 has started quite a few interesting discussions with veterans at my range.
