I might be looking for a big-bore AR-15 upper just because.

I'm wondering how much of a difference there is between the 450 Bushmaster and the 50 Beowulf? Is one better than the other? Is one easier to reload for? Which would you buy and why?

I have no real reason for wanting one, I just do .
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

.452 cal pistol bullets vs 500 Smith bullets. If you want heavy, better go with the 50. If you want cheaper to shoot and faster rounds, better go 450.

I guess it's a little like the S&W .460 Magnum and the .500 Magnum. I should have though about it that way and I guess there would have been no reason for this thread. :scrutiny: lol, should have thought before I asked.

So......I’ll reverse your question. What’s your decision? And why?

Have thought about getting a big bore AR upper from time to time. If I were going to do it now I would probably go with the 450 Bushmaster.

I don't have first hand experience with either but researched it a bit. I would get the 450 because of cheaper parts and bullets

I'm still not sure. For a revolver i like the .460 Mag because of all the different cartridges it can shoot but in the carbine that doesn't matter. The 450 Bushmaster seems to be more mainstream and there is plenty of load data available but the 50 Beowulf is a big hard hitting round.

I'm still just not sure yet and I'm not going to buy both as much as I would like to.
Maybe I should buy a 45 ACP Carbine and call it good. Naaaaa lol

If I were to get a 450 it would be legal to use for deer in the souther lower peninsula of MI. For me this opens up more uses for the rifle. I've actually been considering this myself as an alternative to a lever action pistol caliber.
