Who carries a SP101?

I've been carrying my SP3.125 incher in a custom made (by me) pocket holster for nigh on to 14 years. At the most, only a little bit of the boot grips may show above the pocket line of my jeans, but its a reassuring litle beast to have in my pocket as an EDC. I load it with .38 Spec +p HPs. Even covered in ocket lint between cleanings, mine has never failed to go bang. Don.

American Pride Leather pancake. About 30 bucks.

Regarding the most "concealable" OWB holster:

"Most concealable" is going to vary, depending upon the wearer's dimensions and preferred position. I like the Milt Sparks PMK, and also use the Galco Concealable. Which one is better depends upon the pants, as some pants' belt loop spacing works better with one holster than the other. All else being equal, slimmer guys are likely to be more comfortable with a holster that does not have the slots positioned too far apart, which is one reason I find the PMK more comfortable.

Belt loops spacing generally isn't an issue with a flat pancake. With the holster pictured above, I generally run my belt thru a slot in the holster, then a loop, then the other slot. You don't have to do this, but it helps with any spacing issue and holds the holster very firmly to boot.

Yes, pancakes are more flexible in fitting pants' belt loops, but the wider spread of the slots makes a pancake less comfortable for some of us slimmer guys than a holster with one tunnel loop and one outboard loop. According to Matt del Fatti's informative website, the dividing line seems to be about 32 inches of waistline, and I am right on that dividing line.

Of course, where the weapon is worn is a factor. Those who like to wear the holster well behind the hip are less likely to be bothered by the wider spacing of the holster's slots or loops. I prefer wearing the primary weapon as close to 0300 as the curve of my hipbone will allow.

Sp101

I carry my SP101 DAO 2" AIWB. I have Two holsters that I use. The first is a Concealment Concepts and the other is a DeSantis. Both are Leather Clip on IWB holsters. My LCR 357 backs it up in my off hand pocket in a Uncle Mikes Pocket Holster. Both loaded with Corbon 125G. JHP 357 Ammo. Every day all day.

Sorry about the delay; the holster is made by a local guy who consigns out of an LGS in my neck of the woods. I'm told that he is working on a website; as soon as it goes live, I'll post about it.

The split belt holders are the greatest thing since bourbon, and came from Andrews custom:

Oh, and the SP is one of the original short frame versions, the SPNY in .38 special. No matter; built to NYPD specs, it hits to POA with buffalo bore's stout 158 LSWCHP +P, which is as much as I like to shoot in it.

I carry one of 2 Ruger SP101's. The one I usually carry is the 3" with XS sights, carried in a Don Hume IWB. I load it with buffalo bore's 158 LSWCHP +P. It's not really too hefty, although there is a definite difference between the Ruger and my lighter snubbies.

I want to start carrying my 4" SP101 in .357 Mag but can't find a good holster for a 4" anywhere.

what grips are those?

Don't overlook the custom versions of this fine revolver. When I carry a CCW revolver it is a Weigand "Tame the Beast" conversion of the .357 Ruger SP101. It features Hybraporting, DAO, trigger job, custom bead blast finish, polished pins and a Hogue coco bolo monogrip.
It is so smooth that with the porting job and the Hogue grip I can put five rounds of full power 125 grain semi JHP's into a tight group with almost zero muzzle rise.
I carry it in a modified pancake holster by Murph's leather and use a 2x2x2 Galco belt slide ammo holder for back up rounds.

The grips on my Ruger Sp101 is from Badger Custom grips...I think they were $55.00. I thought the price was reasonable.

I spent a little time carrying a 3" SP101. I use a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake, and the weight hasn't been an issue for me. I also thread my belt through holster-beltloop-holster and wore it about 3 o'clock. Nice gun, fun to shoot, but just not for me I'm afriad. Maybe it'll grow on me.
