Who here has a CCW but primarily uses it to carry in car or truck only?

Mods, I tried to use the search function but it did not work.

Ok. We all know that many of us have CCW permits/licenses. However, it appears that some only use it so they can carry in their truck or car. How many here do that?

I CCW almost always when legal.

Although I did not get it for that reason only. My carry gun spends most of its life in my car, to and from work....

The main reason I got my Washington CPL was to be able to keep the handgun loaded in the car (it's illegal to have it loaded in the car otherwise in Washington state.)

The secondary reason was to be able to conceal the gun when I want to, which isn't very often.

CWP not required to carry in my truck...I have it but seldom if ever use it...all that said, I have a Crossbreed supertuck on the way. Hope to make cc more of a normal thing.

That's actually why I originally got a WA CCP. I got the permit before I bought my first gun, a 1911. I figured the easiest way to stay legal while transporting was to just get the permit, and since it was $60 and only took 8 days to get in the mail I figured why not.

I didn't start carrying until months later.

That was my initial reason. MO allows you to have a loaded handgun in the car, but I worked across the border in AR. Needed CCW for that.

In Mont.you don't need one,to have it on the seat beside you.Thank God I live in a good state. And unless the law's have changed drastically you can't cross state lines anyway concealed even with a permit. It's only good in the issuing state. But it's been long time since I had one.And I never had my 44 on me anyway.Well good huntingand shooting

I got my CPL primarily to carry in the vehicle...but not the way you think.

I love to OC here in Michigan, but we can't get in the car with our open holstered gun without it becoming "concealed". You have to take your lockable gun case out of your trunk (don't leave it in the trunk while doing this) set it on the ground, disarm, secure pistol in case, then secure case in trunk unless you have a CPL.

I like driving places without going through this ritual, so I decided to get my CPL.

I live in Virginia. You currently need a concealed permit to carry concealed in the car. Also, a concealed permit allows you to purchase more than one handgun per month. I don't carry on my person very often as I'm frequently going into federal buildings.
