Who here is a Kimber 1911 fan?

Mine is not "iffy". I don't know about yours. Have they had their share of problems? Yes. Do they put out some really great guns? Yes.

What's the point here?

Good experience with one Kimber...

I have a number of Colt 1911s and one Kimber, a Pro CDP model. I bought it used and have fired maybe 1,500 rounds through it with no problems. I like the gun and would buy another Kimber.

I have been lusting after a Custom Eclipse II, but funds are short as of right now.

Yet to have any problems with my Stainless Compact II or my Pro Carry II, yes the tolerances are very tight and they do need a 300 round (Kimber says 500) round breakin before being 100% reliable.

My Warrior is a fantastic, reliable with anything I put in it. Kimber has had their problems, I have seen some of the pictures of bad QC. But I maintain a majority of problems people have with their firearms are poor/no cleaning, followed by the need to fix/tinker with something that is not broken.

The principle lesson... is that one should never use an "iffy" gun when there's anything at stake. And there's always something at stake...
Agreed, never seen as many jams at the range as I have from kimbers...
Pretty pistols tho.

i have shot/ trained with and used olot of thier different models over the years, and i have never had a single issue with any of them. They have for me been reliable, accurate, and all around good shooting guns.

i have used/trained with/ shot, kimber warrior, tle, and tle rl, tle pro, pro covert, custom II, Grand Raptor, and there are more but that is what i can remember right off the top of my head.

Kimbers are the longest lasting range rental 1911's we've ever had. Ours typically go over 70K before we sell them. We had one that went 92K and had a smooth bore by the time we sold it.

remind me never to buy a gun from you Kruzr lol. i dont want one with 70-92 thousand rounds through it. glad to see they last that long.

I have had terrible experience with Kimbers. I have had a Custom II, Pro Carry with the melt job, and a Target II. All were unreliable. Kimber customer service could not fix them, and were generally rude to deal with. A bunch of A-holes really. I would not buy another Kimber. I would not recommend anyone else buy a Kimber. They are POS in my opinion. If I got one for free, I would dump it as quickly as I could to the first chump with the money. I would rather defend myself with a board with a nail in the end of it than a Kimber (well, probably anyway).

They are pretty, but I have had too many bad experiences, and have known too many other people with bad experiences.

I have an original full-sized Classic I bought in 2001. It's not a Clackamas gun. It's had a few thousand rounds through it. I added wood grips, Novak night-sights, and a Wilson extended slide stop, but otherwise it's stock. It hasn't had any stoppages that weren't caused by magazines that cause the same problems in my other 1911.

I left the gun forums and didn't pay attention to what was new in the firearms world for a few years before returning a few months ago, and I have to say I was astonished at some of the bad press Kimber's been getting.

Two things occur to me: first, the internet tends to magnify negative experiences. Second, I frankly don't believe there's any such thing as an automatic pistol that never ever jams; that's why you practice malfunction drills, after all.

Kimber

It amazes me the number of people that do not own and have never shot a Kimber yet they are experts on all things Kimber!!!

mine was a little "finicky" with mags and certain types of hp ammo.

even crazier is the rental i tried was hiccup free! of course i only fired it 50 rds. it looked like it came from a coal mine when i started though.

meh, don't think i'd buy another kimber product.

Full size Raptor II, internal extractor, pushing 1000 rds zero failures. At the moment it's my nightstand gun. I bought the Kimber 22lr conversion for it, no issues there yet......
For further info see sig line. ;)

Bough my Tactical Pro II used. I've put a few thousand rounds through it with only mag related issues. Two new Chip McCormick's straightened that all out. Sewing machine eh? Mines more like a Rolex.

Ive owned a few, all have been darn fine pistols, Royal II, pro carry HD, custom classic, TLE. The best trigger from a factory 1911 came from a Kimber custom classic, it was match ready right out of the box.

"Kimbers firearms are quality custom
pieces. Our firearms are hand fitted to tight tolerances. For proper Break-in of the firearm shoot 400-500 rounds of Quality Factory Ball (230g. FMJ). Ammunition, cleaning and lubricating
the gun every 100-150 rounds."

I've found once I am through the breakin (usually it's more like 300), they're great. I'm sure that, just like every other gun, there are some lemons out there. I've yet to see one have an issue.
